Golden ticket Celebration 

Our Golden Reader celebration was a resounding success! Children enjoyed a special treat and proudly received their golden badges for their reading achievements. The afternoon offered a choice of creative activities, including origami and colouring, while others enjoyed the sunshine with Miss Thorndycraft. It was a joyful occasion celebrating their love of books and reading regularly!

Our school is buzzing with excitement for Earth Day 2025! We're celebrating our planet's 55th birthday and we want YOU to help us spread the word about protecting our environment.

Poster Competition

Grab your crayons, paints, or whatever you like to create with and design a poster showing how we can use our power to protect our planet. The theme is "Our Power, Our Planet" so think about using bright colours, catchy slogans, and powerful images to show how we can all make a difference. The winning poster will win a prize for their Eco Council and will be displayed in our school and even across the Trust!

All entries should be given to your teacher or the Sustainability Lead by March 31st. Let's show how much we care about our planet!

Power Hour

On Earth Day, we'll also have a special "Power Hour" where we'll switch off all unnecessary lights and electronics for one hour to save energy. Every little bit helps!

Remember, it's Our Planet and it's Our Power to protect it!

We have updated the Amazon Wishlist with books that we would like to have in each class for storytime. You may view the list of items by following this link. Once purchased, these items will be delivered directly to school and opened with the children – what a great treat!

Hurst Park Primary Academy is looking for volunteers to enhance children's learning. Volunteers are highly valued and appreciated by children and staff. In the past, volunteers have helped children with reading and maintaining the Library. Volunteers must complete a comprehensive induction programme, including a DBS check, and adhere to our Safeguarding procedures. Volunteering hours are flexible.  If you are interested in making a difference, please complete the Volunteer Registration form  to apply. Please note that volunteers will not be placed in their child's class.

Year 2 - Science Museum 

Year 2 LOVED their trip to the Science Museum! We enjoyed hearing about the daily life of astronauts when they are in space and we even helped out acting parts of their routine! We then explored the Museum; looking at the Wright Brothers Flyer, finding more information about Bessie Coleman and looking at the different planes and pilots that we have been learning about in our History lessons.

Year 2 Now Press Play

Y2 had a wild time on their "Now Press Play" safari! Linking with their book "One Day on Our Blue Planet in the Savannah," they explored animals and their habitats through fun, interactive activities! What a fantastic learning adventure!

Year 4 Forest School 

Year 4 had an amazing time at Forest School, roasting marshmallows, playing games, and sharing  stories made for a perfect outdoor adventure. Smiles, laughter, and nature all around! 

Year 5 Science

Year 5 DT Sewing 

Year 5 had a fantastic time at their needlework sewing workshop! They embraced creativity, worked together, and showed resilience through every stitch! Their curiosity led us to try new techniques, while being reflective.

Year 6 Junior Citizen

Year 6 had an amazing afternoon during their Junior Citizen trip at Sandown Park Racecourse. They took part in a carousel of engaging activities ranging from CPR, water safety, rail safety, dental hygiene, teamwork and ways to protect our environment.

Wrap Around Care 

Creativity in action at Wrap Around Care! From building colourful puzzles to designing amazing structures, our sessions are full of hands-on fun and learning. Problem-solving, imagination, and teamwork all come to life!

Sporting Fixtures 

Shoutout to all the amazing players in the Y3 Girls LEO Football Tournament this afternoon . All players displayed great football and fantastic teamwork. A big well done to Team 1 for making it through to the finals after Easter. 

What a fantastic afternoon at the Year 4 and Year 5 Dodgeball Festival at Cleves! The children took part in a fun circuit of skills and friendly games.  Huge congratulations to Abby and Dominic for earning the fair play and sportsmanship medals!
