We kicked off the week with a joyful celebration of our school's rich tapestry during our fantastic Cultural Diversity Day on Tuesday. It was wonderful to see the children embracing and sharing their different cultures.

The learning continued mid-week with National Numeracy Day on Wednesday. This special day fostered a love for numbers and highlighted the importance of mathematical skills across all year groups through fun and interactive activities. Following this, on Friday, we embraced a more sustainable approach with Car Free Day, encouraging our school community to think about alternative modes of transport and their impact on the environment.

We were also treated to a fantastic and insightful 2P class assembly this week. The children confidently shared their learning and talents with the school, and we were all very proud of their achievements. Furthermore, throughout the week, children gained valuable life skills through age-appropriate Financial Literacy lessons, equipping them with essential knowledge for the future.

Friday afternoon was filled with beautiful melodies as our talented Musical Voices club shared their hard work and passion with family members in a delightful performance. We celebrated the dedication of our young readers with a special Golden Ticket afternoon, rewarding those students who consistently read at least four times a week and were selected at random for their commitment.

In other exciting news, our Year 3 students embarked on their journey to becoming peer leaders with engaging First Feet training sessions held on Wednesday and Thursday. These sessions provided them with valuable skills. 

As this busy and enriching week draws to a close, we hope you all have a wonderful and restful break. We look forward to welcoming everyone back to school on Monday, 2nd June, ready for another exciting half-term of learning!

Wow! What an absolutely fantastic Colour Run event! From start to finish, it was bursting with energy, laughter, and of course, a whole lot of colour. Thank you to the PTA team for all your hard work and dedication in organising such a memorable day for the whole school community. Seeing everyone running, laughing, and covered head-to-toe in vibrant hues was such a joy. The atmosphere was incredible, and it was wonderful to see the school community come together in such a fun and active way. These are the kinds of memories that our children will cherish for years to come. Thank you again for a truly spectacular day. We're already looking forward to the next one!

Car Free Day - 23rd May 25 

Our school community embraced Walk to School Week with fantastic enthusiasm! The week kicked off with an inspiring assembly led by our dedicated Eco Team, highlighting the many benefits of  sustainable travel. Year 3 students then put their best feet forward, learning crucial road safety skills during their engaging 'Feet First' walking training. To top off a brilliant week, many families joined our walking bus initiative on Car Free Day, making a real difference to our local environment. A huge thank you to everyone for your incredible support and for celebrating the importance of being active travellers!  Mrs Smith

World Day for Cultural Diversity 

We had a wonderful day celebrating Cultural Diversity Day on Wednesday. The children looked fantastic in their chosen outfits and  the pride on their faces was a powerful reminder of the importance of sharing and celebrating our many different cultural backgrounds at Hurst Park. This special day highlighted the beauty of our diversity and it was a powerful testament to the idea that while we may have different backgrounds and traditions, we are all part of one supportive and inclusive school family. Thank you to everyone who contributed to making Cultural Diversity Day 2025 so special.

If your child has celebrated a sporting achievement and you would like them to be included in the newsletter, please let us know by completing this form. There is an option to attach photos/certificates if you would like but this is optional.

Hurst Park Primary Academy is looking for volunteers to enhance children's learning. Volunteers are highly valued and appreciated by children and staff. In the past, volunteers have helped children with reading and maintaining the Library. Volunteers must complete a comprehensive induction programme, including a DBS check, and adhere to our Safeguarding procedures. Volunteering hours are flexible.  If you are interested in making a difference, please complete the Volunteer Registration form  to apply. Please note that volunteers will not be placed in their child's class.

Year 2

In Year 2 we have loved learning about Georgia O'Keefee. We created fantastic collages using tissue paper to design our beautiful flowers! 

Year 3 

In science Year 3 have been exploring seed dispersal, and they've even made a video to show what they've learned! Here are a few screenshots from one of the video clips.

Year 3 have been busy in their Design and Technology lessons, becoming fantastic chefs! After researching and planning their creations, both classes got hands-on making their very own fruit tarts using seasonal produce. We focused on safe and accurate cutting skills, carefully using the bridge hold and claw grip to prepare our delicious fruit. 

Empowering our Year 3s! Thus week, they started the Feet First: Walking Training program, equipping them with key road safety skills for their journeys. A fantastic partnership with Surrey County Council's Walking Instructors!

Year 4 

Year 4 had an absolutely fantastic (and thankfully dry!) morning on Thursday as they embarked on their geography field trip to the River Thames. The children were buzzing with excitement as they walked to the riverside, ready to become real-life geographers. The school is so incredibly lucky to be situated so close to such a significant and fascinating river! Once there, they demonstrated true excellence, meticulously observing and identifying a wealth of human features, such as bridges and boats, alongside the natural physical features of the river itself, from its banks to its flow. Their enthusiasm for learning was truly infectious, and it was wonderful to see their understanding of the local environment flourish.

Year 6 Lion King Theatre Trip 

Our Year 6 pupils recently enjoyed a spectacular trip to London to see Disney's The Lion King at the Lyceum Theatre! The children were captivated by the vibrant costumes, incredible puppetry, and breathtaking performances, making for an unforgettable theatrical experience. It was wonderful to see their excitement and engagement throughout the show.

Sporting Fixtures 

Fantastic effort from our Y3/4 team at the @LEOsports7 Cricket Festival! Some great batting and sharp fielding on display — the team grew stronger with every game. Well done all 

Well done to our Y5 boys cricket team for an outstanding performance in the Elmbridge Cricket Competition! They showed skill, determination and teamwork, making it all the way to the finals. A brilliant effort from every player!
