This week proved to be a significant one at our school, marked by both challenge and celebration. We were proud of our Year 6 pupils who showed resilience when completing their end of Key Stage 2 assessments. Their dedication and positive attitude throughout the week were truly inspiring.

In recognition of Mental Health Awareness Week, we also put a real focus on the well being of our entire school community. Thursday saw a Well-being Fayre take place, offering a range of activities and resources to promote positive mental health and well-being for pupils, staff, and families.

We were also pleased to have Mr. Hedger, our CEO, pop in on Monday. His visit gave us a great chance to chat with our older students, discussing the exciting possibilities for LEO's wider provision and how the Trust and LEO Foundation could further develop this in the 2025/26 academic year.

Looking ahead, we're really looking forward to a fun-filled weekend as we get ready to welcome families to our PTA Colour Run on Saturday.

Next week promises a cracking end to the term with a variety of exciting events planned. These include our Cultural Diversity Day on Tuesday, National Numeracy Day on Wednesday, and Car Free Day on Friday. We're also looking forward to 2P class sharing their learning with us in their class assembly. It's set to be a busy and engaging final week!

Huge Success at Our Emotional Wellbeing Fayre 

We are absolutely thrilled to share what a wonderful and successful afternoon we had at our Emotional Wellbeing Fayre on Thursday 15th May! It was fantastic to see so many of our families in the School Hall, connecting and exploring the wealth of support available.

The atmosphere was incredibly positive, and we have already heard from many parents how useful they found the event. It was a special opportunity to discover new resources and engage with the fantastic local services and charities that joined us. We know that navigating the ups and downs of family life can sometimes be challenging, and it was heartwarming to see so many of you taking this opportunity to gather information and ask questions in a supportive space.

A truly enormous THANK YOU must go to the incredible organisations that gave their time and expertise to make this fayre possible. Their dedication to supporting our community is invaluable, and we are so grateful for their participation - St Peter's Church, Home Start, Mary Frances Trust, Oasis, Mindworks, Rites for Girls, Eikon, Walton Charity, Centre for Psychology, East to West, East Elmbridge Food Bank, North Surrey Domestic Abuse, Elmbridge Council, Spurgeons and Dad Matters.

Each of these groups brought unique and valuable insights, and we hope that the connections made today will continue to be a source of strength and support for our families.

Thank you once again to everyone who attended and to all the participating services and charities for making our Emotional Wellbeing Fayre such a resounding success! 

World Day for Cultural Diversity 

On Tuesday the 20th of May we will be taking part in World Day for Cultural Diversity. Last year was a great success and we hope this event will again be a fun day for everyone to learn a little more about the wonderful and different cultures celebrated by our Hurst Park families. On this day children are invited to wear mufti and will be asked to come to school wearing clothes that represent their heritage in some way. This could be traditional costume, clothes that are the colours of a countries flag, or sports clothes that represent a country e.g. football shirts etc. 

During the school day, teachers are going to offer pupils the opportunity to share with their class some information about their heritage, culture or religion if they wish to do so, as part of a class show and tell session. We would also like to reach out to any parents and carers who would be willing to read a book or share some information about their heritage, cultural background or religion with their child’s class. If you would like to come into school to share information with your child’s class, we ask that you contact their class teacher directly to arrange a time to come in.

Maths workshops for parents

If your child has celebrated a sporting achievement and you would like them to be included in the newsletter, please let us know by completing this form. There is an option to attach photos/certificates if you would like but this is optional. 

We have updated the Amazon Wishlist with books that we would like to have in each class for storytime. You may view the list of items by following this link. Once purchased, these items will be delivered directly to school and opened with the children – what a great treat!

Hurst Park Primary Academy is looking for volunteers to enhance children's learning. Volunteers are highly valued and appreciated by children and staff. In the past, volunteers have helped children with reading and maintaining the Library. Volunteers must complete a comprehensive induction programme, including a DBS check, and adhere to our Safeguarding procedures. Volunteering hours are flexible.  If you are interested in making a difference, please complete the Volunteer Registration form  to apply.
