Welcome to our newsletter for the week ending Friday 3rd July 2020.

Star of the Week Certificates

We hold weekly assemblies in school where we hand out 'Star of the Week' certificates to children. They are awarded to one child per class from Nursery to Year 6 and are given to children who have impressed their teacher this week with some of the work that they have completed.

Winners are listed below. You can see this week's assembly here .

Star of the Week Certificates for 3rd July:

End of Term Arrangements

It is at this time of year that in schools we traditionally say goodbye to children and staff, either because people are leaving or because children are moving into new year groups. We celebrate the work they have done and the time they have spent with us. It is sad to say goodbye but we also know that those who are leaving are moving forward into a new and exciting next step of their lives.

Children and parents like to say goodbye to their class and school staff and often choose to buy a gift in recognition of the support given that year. This year has been different. No member of staff ever expects a gift, it genuinely is a lovely surprise each year as to how generous the families at Cheam Park Farm are. This year we are acutely aware of the financial situation many of our families find themselves in. We urge families not to spend on presents where to do so would put any family in financial difficulty. We are also aware that those of us working in school are fortunate to still be earning our salary. Times have changed and if you would prefer to make a donation to a local charity, rather than give a present to the staff please do so.

If as a family or class you would like to still give a gift to anyone in the school then the presents can be brought in by children who are attending school. They should be clearly labelled so they get to the correct members of staff. If your child is not currently attending school, then the clearly labelled gift should be brought into the reception area between 9.30am and 2.15pm so that you do not arrive at the same time as children currently attending school. It would be better if presents were brought in next week or early the following week so that they can be left for 72 hours before the member of staff takes them home. Individual staff will be in touch to acknowledge receiving any gifts.

Where possible we will try to arrange for staff members who are leaving our school to return next year for a more traditional farewell. Of course we do not yet know what September looks like so this may not be possible in all cases.

As we approach the end of another school year, we would like to share with you some arrangements for the next few weeks:

  • Information about new classes, including your child's class teacher for next year, will be emailed to parents on Friday 3rd July.
  • Your child's Annual Report will be emailed to parents on Friday 10th July.
  • Friday 17th July is the final day of term and of this academic year. For those children in school, we will break up one hour earlier than usual on this day. Please see the timetable below for your child's finish time on Friday 17th July. For those children who attend Breakfast Club, this will continue to be offered on this day. We will not be offering an after school club service on the last day of term.
  • During the weeks beginning Monday 6th July and Monday 13th July, your child will be invited to join a class hangout with their new teacher. Details of timings and the links will be sent out with your new class information. We would encourage all children to attend where possible as it will be their only opportunity to "meet" their new teacher prior to September.

Friday 17th July Finishing Times:

  • For children in these groups, school will finish at 1:30pm: Reception A, Reception B, 1A, 1E, 6A and 6B.
  • For children in these groups, school will finish at 1:45pm: Reception H, Reception G, 1D, 1H, 6G and 6H.
  • For children in these groups, school will finish at 2:00pm: Reception E, Reception F, 1B, 1F, 6E and 6F.
  • For children in these groups, school will finish at 2:15pm: Reception C, Reception D, 1C, 1G, 6C and 6D.
  • For children in any of the Key Worker groups, school will finish at 2:15pm.

Chromebooks

Many children have benefited from borrowing Chromebooks from school over the past few months. With preparations for September to think about, please can we ask that you begin to return these devices (along with any chargers) to the school office at your convenience. We will need them all returned before Friday 17th July please so that we can arrange to have them cleaned and ready for use on classrooms once the children return in September. Thank you in advance for your help with ensuring that all devices are returned over the next two weeks.

LEO Big Arts Week (6th - 10th July)

Arts Week is the perfect way to express yourself and how you have been feeling! The definition of Art is: the product of imagination and creativity, particularly in a physical form. This means that there are many different forms of art: paintings, prints, drawings, sculptures, collage, photography, theatre, poetry, novels, music, dance, film and much more.

We are going to focus on five strands of Art this week: imagery (such as paintings and photography), music, film and theatre, books and dance. At the start of the week, we will share all of the activities and links so that you can pick and choose which activities you would like to take part in and see which competitions you would like to enter.

LEO Celebration Week (13th - 17th July)

For our Celebration themed week, we will be reflecting on the year and celebrating all that we have achieved. We will also be looking ahead to the next academic year and thinking about what we’d all like to achieve.
