What an exciting term it has been! We have loved having the children back in school and we are so grateful to you for trusting us with them at this time. They have never failed to impress us with their adaptability, their encouragement of each other and their teachers as well as their resilience and perseverance in diving back into learning.
I cannot thank our parents enough for sending your children in and our teachers for their commitment in coming to school everyday and being the strong front line that they are.
Thank you all for your continued support and cooperation throughout these unprecedented times.
Please enjoy this Christmas video from all the staff at Cheam Fields. We hope it makes you smile!
We wish you a very happy and healthy Christmas - stay safe.
Miss Shaw

Each week we put a brief synopsis of one of our Battle of the Books in the newsletter from a year group’s book list.
This week's book is Mrs Armitage on Wheels - Quentin Blake and is from the Year 1 book list.
Mrs Armitage sets off for a quiet cycle with her faithful dog, Breakspear, but she just can't help thinking of ways to improve her bicycle. Before very long she has added three very loud horns, a bucket of water to wash her hands, a complete tool kit. And by the time she has also added a seat for Breakspear, two umbrellas, a cassette player and a mouth-organ, Mrs Armitage is riding a very eye-catching contraption. But it is when she finally adds the mast and sail, that Mrs Armitage really runs into trouble. . .
The children need to remember to fill in a book review once they have read a book!
Sutton charities, Sutton council and health services have come together to explain what support is available for families this November, and throughout winter.

If you order books through Scholastic, your order can earn rewards points for our school. When you place an order with Scholastic for over £10, we will receive 20p for every £1 that you spend. Making the most of this is really simple - just add the books you would like to your shopping basket and when you checkout, you will be asked to enter the name of the school you would like to receive the rewards.
Every year we use the rewards we receive through Scholastic to buy new books for our class book corners, on Battle of the Books and on exciting new class texts! Due to current restrictions we will be unable to hold our annual book fair this year, but we would still be extremely grateful if you could support us online instead.

INGREDIENTS
150 g unsalted butter softened
175 g caster sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
175 g plain flour
30 g cocoa powder
0.5 tsp bicarbonate of soda
icing sugar, for dusting
200 g white ready-to-roll icing
50 g green ready-to-roll icing
1 tube red writing icing
METHOD
Preheat the oven to 180°C, fan 160°C, gas 4. Line 2 baking sheets with baking paper. Put the butter and sugar in a bowl and cream together using an electric handheld whisk. Beat in the vanilla.
Sift together the flour, cocoa powder and bicarbonate of soda, then add to the butter and sugar. Mix until crumbly, then, with clean hands, gather the dough and knead until just smooth.
Turn out on to a work surface and shape into a 27cm-long sausage shape. Slice into 18 rounds and place, spaced apart, on the baking sheets. Flatten each with your fingertips to a 5cm diameter. Bake for 10-12 minutes. Cool on the baking sheets for 10 minutes then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
To decorate, dust your work surface with icing sugar and roll out the white icing to a thin sheet. Use an 8cm-round cookie cutter to stamp out 9 circles. Cut each one to make two wavy-edged semicircles. Lightly brush with water and stick on to the cookies.
Roll out the green icing and cut out 36 leaf shapes. Use the tip of a teaspoon to cut away the edges to resemble holly leaves. Attach two to each cookie with a dab of water. Use the writing icing to dot two berries on each cookie.
