Calling all Volunteers!

We have a host of opportunities for parents and family members to come into school to support our community. Do you have some time to spare?

We are looking for Volunteers to support with our reading programmes, which would involve just 10 minutes a week, as well as help with swimming and other activities.

We are also looking to revive our PTFA, with school discos planned for the Autumn. Membership of the PTFA doesn’t have to mean giving up lots of your time!

We will be holding a Volunteers Meeting on Friday 23rd September at 9.15am in the School Hall. If you would be interested in hearing more about how you could help, please come along.

Reducing the use of physical chastisement in Sutton

There are many different views about physical chastisement, but it is widely accepted there are much more effective ways to teach children right from wrong.

As a local authority, Sutton has seen a number of children coming to the attention of police and social care due to the use of physical chastisement and as such has worked with other local authorities on an initiative to reduce this number.

In line with this initiative, we agree that anything that causes harm to a child is unacceptable.

As a school we have a duty to report incidents of suspected or confirmed physical chastisement to social care and the police which leaves visible bruising, grazes, scratches, minor swelling, cuts as well as stress injuries from prolonged standing, position holding as these are banned by law in the United Kingdom.

If you would like support on how to manage your child’s behaviour at home, please do not hesitate to contact us.
