As part of our continued commitment to improving our school and outcomes for each and every child, we are asking for your opinions and feedback. The children and staff have completed a similar survey within school.
Your feedback and observations are valuable. This is your chance to express your views and allow us to act upon them. The results will also give us a benchmark against which we can judge our future improvement.
Here is the link to the online questionnaire for you to complete by Wednesday 23rd February.
We wish you all a happy half term.
See you again on Monday 21st February.

We are celebrating World Book Day (WBD) on Thursday 3rd March 2022 and we would like to invite you to join us in helping your child to make the most of this special occasion. WBD celebrates the joy and value of books and reading. On WBD your child will be taking part in lots of fun activities. Such activities will include: Drop Everything and Read!, Mystery Storyteller, sharing favourite stories with pupils of different ages, as well as fun book quizzes and other book related activities.
On this special day, your child can come to school dressed as their favourite character from any book. The dressing up possibilities are endless: Postman Pat, Oliver Twist, Fantastic Mr Fox, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, James and the Giant Peach, Matilda, Jack and the Beanstalk, Cinderella, The Gruffalo, Harry Potter etc.
As part of commitment to sustainability, we want to give life to old dressing up clothes!
If you have any old World Book Day costumes (or other suitable dressing up clothes) that you no longer need, please put it into the box in the Office on Monday 21st or Tuesday 22nd February.
Then on Wednesday 23rd-Friday 25th of February we will be displaying these on the Reception playground after school. You will be able to take your pick of the items for a small donation which we will use to fund playground equipment.
We can’t wait to see you at our Costume Swap Shop getting all that you need ready for World Book Day!
We are pleased to announce that this year we are once again holding out Scholastic Book Fair on the following dates in the hall. Entrance will be via the hall door:
Monday 28th February – 3.15pm-4pm
Wednesday 2nd March & Thursday 3rd March – 8.15am-9am
Thursday 3rd March –3.15pm-4pm
Payment for books will be by cash only and it would be wonderful if you could bring coins to pay where possible. In advance, every child in the school will receive a £1 book token which they can either use at the fair or in participating book shops. Cheam Fields will receive a proportion of all sales, which will then be put towards books for a brand new library which we hope to open in September 2022!
In addition to the above, there will also be a book-themed competition running in the lead-up to World Book Day. This year we are asking the children to create a ‘Wooden Spoon Book Character’, where they can transform a simple wooden spoon into any book character of their choice! See the photographs for some ideas. All entries should be handed in to your child’s class teacher by Tuesday 22nd February with their name and class clearly shown. Winners will be revealed on Friday 28th February and will receive a prize.
