In light of recent Government announcements about the new variant and temporary restrictions back in place, we ask you follow the below steps, for the safety of everyone.
When attending a school event please:
- Wear a face covering (unless you are exempt)
- Take a rapid lateral flow test before the event and only attend if you get a negative test result (Rapid lateral flow devices can be ordered by clicking here)
- Wrap up warm (the hall will be well ventilated to improve fresh air flow so it could be chilly!)
All performances will be recorded for those of you who are unable to attend or don’t feel comfortable attending.

Christmas Facebook Live on keeping children safe, offline and on phones, games & devices
Some of our students will be lucky enough to receive new devices, games consoles and phones for Christmas. Many of the rest will have access in one way or another to internet-enabled devices. We all want to ensure that everyone in our school community has a safe Christmas holiday, online and beyond.
We encourage the positive use of technology at school and often talk about the fun that goes on in lessons, but we also discuss the scary things too throughout the year. As we approach the holidays, why not find out about you parents can help – whether by setting parental time and age controls (before you wrap new ones), or simply by finding out more about what’s going on?
There will be a Facebook Live drop-in for parents on Monday 20 December 7pm on the @LGfLDigiSafe channel talking about staying safe online and offline too – what to worry about and what not, and how to have tricky conversations at home. There will also be discussion of how parents can help with bullying, relationships, criminal and sexual exploitation and simply starting tricky conversations!
Sign up now by heading to facebook.com/LGfLDigiSafe/posts where you can click ‘Interested’ / ‘Going’ on the post to receive a reminder when it is about to go live.
Please also remember before buying Christmas presents that games, series and films (including on Netflix!) have age ratings linked to their content, not their difficulty (we often forget for games that they are also rated 18 for the same reasons as films - language, sex and violence).
You may wish to visit the parentsafe.lgfl.net website where you will find many of the resources that will be presented to you in the evening.
Roundabout Dramatherapy are delighted to announce the return of their Advent Story Calendar.
Behind each door is a story recorded especially for Roundabout.
This year some of the #ShareAStory donors are appearing in pantomimes across the UK and will be wearing their stage costumes when they share their stories, so it promises to be a real treat.

The Winter Calendar is now live, a seasonal challenge where your child can unlock festive rewards by Doodling daily!
Between the 1st and 24th of December, encourage your child to complete an x-a-day exercise each day in DoodleMaths and/or DoodleEnglish to unlock a calendar door.
They'll find accessories in DoodleMaths and the parts to build Santa's sleigh in DoodleEnglish. And if they open all of the doors, they'll also receive a virtual Winter Calendar badge!
Find out more with this short video and article, or visit Doodle's Help Centre and click on the green icon to chat to their team.
Childnet have produced a series of six short videos based on the SMART rules which parents can use to discuss a range of online safety issues with their children. You can view all of the videos HERE.
For Parents and School (early years) - Goldilocks Book
Goldilocks is quite an old book but I find that not many are aware of it. It's a twist on the original fairy tale with a social media slant to help educate children about the potential consequences of being unkind, getting carried away with selfies and oversharing images.
You can download a PDF version of the book and an activity sheet HERE. Great to use in the classroom or send the link to parents.
latest Ambitious for SEND Newsletter (November Edition). We want to transition from a system where schools distribute to one where parents that want to receive it can opt in. Would appreciate it if you could encourage parents to subscribe to the newsletter using the button at the bottom of the newsletter.
