School Returns After Half Term on Tuesday 07th June 2022
This week, Cheam Common Junior have had fun and enjoyed celebrating Queen Elizabeth's Platinum Jubilee with fun games, activities, a special street party and even a concert, singing a variety of well-known British pop songs. With the school decked out in colourful bunting and decorations, it has been wonderful to see the school and community come together to celebrate this iconic event. Check out all the celebrations below!
After weeks of practising, classes took to the stage to perform a range of British classics as part of our Jubilee Concert!
Children enjoyed their special Queen's Jubilee picnic style bags with lots of yummy British treats and snacks!
Iconic postage stamps, art works of the Queen, biographies and even homemade LEGO have been created as part of the celebrations!
To commemorate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee, children have planted a special tree in her honour! Check it out!
A huge congratulations to our Year 6 Boys Football Squad, who have played brilliantly this season. After a successful finale, Year 6 Boys secured victory and won the Sutton & Cheam League Championship Play Off Final 2022.
After a tense game, Cheam Common won on penalties, following a 2-2 draw. The attitude, passion & commitment shown all season was on full show today!
Well done to today’s Runners Up & Kendle League Winners, Avenue Primary.
As part of our commitment to the safeguarding of all children, LEO Academy Trust have purchased an advanced online monitoring system called SENSO cloud. This will monitor anything that the children access on their Chromebook, at school and at home. SENSO will pick up any words, images, content of a website or chat messages that may be of concern.
The DSL (Designated Safeguarding Lead) of Cheam Common Juniors will then be notified of new possible concerns along with a picture of what a child is looking at with the date and time.
Please note that the school will be checking these alerts between 9.00am - 3.30 pm Monday to Friday only. Out of these times, while the children are at home, we would expect parents/carers to oversee the use of the Chromebooks. The monitoring programme will still run throughout the weekend, so any concerns will be picked on a Monday. Any concerns would of course be discussed with parents where appropriate.
If you have any queries or questions please do not hesitate to contact myself or Mrs Hart via the office.
Please can we remind all parents / carers to be considerate of the local community, members of Kingsmead Avenue and neighbouring streets regarding on street parking. During peak hours, we ask that those who drive their children to school, be mindful of parking across members of the public driveway, blocking in and/or restricting access for vehicles to pass.
Furthermore, even though the Sutton Street Scheme has proven successful, please note that the road is still in use and that parents, carers and children should be mindful not to walk in the road nor obstruct oncoming traffic from those who live on Kingsmead Avenue. Many thanks.
