World Book Day - Thursday 03rd March 2022

On Thursday 03rd March 2022, Cheam Common Junior are excited to take part in World Book Day. This year, the celebrations are based around promoting 'Reading for Pleasure' and we are excited to be running a whole range of activities, challenges , competitions and dressing up events to promote a love of reading for all! We will also be holding a book and cake sale at the end of day on Thursday 03rd March to raise money for our school and class libraries. Should you wish to donate any books you do not want any more and/or any cakes, please hand to your child's class teacher or to the school office.

Positive Playtime - Dressing Up Request

This half term, we are excited to be launching our new 'Positive Playtime', with a whole host of games, activities and resources for children to use during both break and lunchtimes.


As part of this, we will be building a stage for children to use and perform during these times. Should you have any dressing up items, accessories or equipment and would like to donate these to the school, we would we grateful to receive these and we ask if they could be handed into your child's class teacher or to the school office.

Friends of Cheam Common - Krispy Kreme Doughnuts Fund Raising Event

On Friday 11th March, Friends of Cheam Common will be holding their annual Krispy Kreme Doughnut sale in both the Infant and Junior Playground. Due to the success of previous doughnut sales, Friends of Cheam Common are offering a pre-ordering service where you can pre-order individual doughnuts for a ÂŁ1 each or ÂŁ10 for a dozen. Please bring (where possible) the exact money and bag/Tupperware to carry your delicious treats home.

Friends of Cheam Common - Doughies Pizza Night

After last years success, Friends of Cheam Common and Doughies have teamed up again to bring you a fun cooking experience for the entire family. As part of the evening event, you can order either pizza and/or cookie kits to make and bake your very own delicious treats. Orders should be placed by Saturday 26th March and will be delivered to your child's class for collection on Friday April 01st.

SEND & Inclusion Updates!

Sutton Dyslexia Association are excited to be be hosting their next Parent/Carer Drop-In this half term.


The next session is on Wednesday 23rd March 2022 at Oaks Park Cafe, Carshalton from 09.45 till 11.30 am.


Should you wish to attend, there is a free car park at the Croydon Lane entrance to the park.

Over the course of this half term, there has been plenty of activities, resources and information added to our SEND & Inclusion page, including 'SHOUT' - a free, confidential textline to help if struggling or feeling overwhelmed.


There are also links to various activities and groups running over the half term holidays and beyond including the Sutton Council & Sutton Parent Carer Forum 'Alice in Wonderland Stay and Play' themed sessions. There is also information on the services provided by Sutton Children and Young People Disability Service!

Keeping your children safe Online - YouTube Supervised experience

Supervised Experience is essentially a filter allowing you to block YouTube content which is deemed for adult users only. Manage these settings from your own device via Google Family Link. Please click HERE for a guide on how to implement these settings. There are now 3 filtering levels which are:

(1) Explore - for users 9+. (2) Explore More - for users 13+ (3) Most of YouTube - all content excluding content marked as 18+.

DIGI Safe - Keeping Children Safe Online

LGFL have launched a wonderfully informative and practical website full of resources to help keep children safe online. With videos, informative guides and top tips, there is lots to explore to help keep your child safe whilst online. To visit, click here.
