LEO Academy has partnered with Maggie’s at The Royal Marsden to help raise funds by asking children to come to school dressed in orange. Children can wear as little or as much orange as they wish, from orange socks, t-shirts to even painting their faces to help raise awareness for such a wonderful charitable cause.
Our 'Go Outrageously Orange' mufti day is on Friday 5th November, so make sure you #GoOutrageouslyOrange for Maggie’s. Children can bring a £1 or donate directly to our Just Giving page:

As part of 'Space Scientists', Year 5's current curriculum topic, children have been inspired by all things space and come dressed to in an array of incredible space-themed costumes. Whether it be famous space mathematicians, such as Katherine Johnson and Albert Einstein, significant astronauts including Buzz Aldrin, Neil Armstrong and Mae Jemison, to cosmic-themed outfits, Year 5 children have dazzled and wowed their classes with all their brilliant costumes. Throughout the day, children have enjoyed a range of space-based activities, including launching thier own rockets as part of their science lesson. It has been amazing to see all the hard work and effort that has gone into costumes and we would like to take this opportunity to thank both the children and adults for helping make this day a success!
To celebrate Black History Month, Year 5 have been learning about Mae Jemison, the first black female to travel into space, as part of their Space Scientists topic! This week, as part of their fantastic topic, children have written incredibly detailed biographies and produced some truly stunning digital art to accompany their texts! Take a look at some of the incredible attention to detail children have put into their work. Well done, Year 5!
Within Year 6, children have been learning about the history of the British parliament by creating these wonderfully detailed and creative information fact files all about the Houses of Parliament. As part of their current learning unit, Champions of Change, children have been exploring how governments work, significant political figures, who have made a difference (whether it be good or bad) and even had a chance to set up their own political parties. Great work year 6!
This week, a very lucky group of Year 3's visited RHS Wisley, in Surrey, which is packed full of great gardens to explore and horticultural inspirations for all our budding gardeners. Children had a wonderful time learning about different plants, their benefits to us, as well as exploring the various mini beasts and Eco systems that exist. They even had fun exploring the gardens, where they discovered a few surprises along the way! Check out the photos below! Well done year 3!
Our Cross Country team had a fantastic day out at the SSPSutton Primary Borough Cross Country Championships this week. Children from across Year 4, 5 and 6 competed in a gruelling long distance run, demonstrating our values of perseverance and resilience in order to achieve some truly impressive goals. A huge congratulations to all of our runners! Special congratulations to Megan and Eliot, who won their races!

One magical friendship. One roaring adventure.
The magical tale of a bold young chimney sweep and a remarkable tiger, a dangerously hypnotic ruby and a mystical land found across an ocean and through a storm. Tiger Heart is an enchanting and enthralling adventure, with a heartwarming tale of friendship and loyalty perfect for fans of The Girl of Ink and Stars and Pax.
Fly, a young orphaned girl, never meant to end up in a cage with a man-eating tiger, yet after tumbling down a chimney flue, she soon comes face to face with the dangerous creature. And though she's sure she's no princess, when the tiger addresses her as 'your majesty', she can't help but vow to free him and return him home. But the bird-filled jungles and cloud-topped mountains of the tiger's homeland are an ocean away. And not everyone wants the tiger - or Fly - to get there alive.
With dark and dangerous forces working against them, will Fly be able to fulfil her promise and maybe - just maybe - become the queen her tiger knows her to be? Fans of ‘Running on the Roof of the World’ and ‘When the Mountains Roared’ are sure to be utterly delighted by this beautifully magical tale.
Throughout the week, children have loved listening and reading their brand new class reading books! Each book has been carefully selected to help children within their writing, providing wonderful ideas, grammatical features and exciting new vocabulary!

Artwork Competition
Is your child an aspiring young artist? Enter our competition – and they could win an amazing trip to the Houses of Parliament!
Our Find Your Balance: A day in my digital life art competition, in partnership with Google, is asking children to draw a picture showing how they find a healthy balance in their online and offline lives.
We are looking for a colourful and creative picture that shows how your child makes sure the internet works for them. It could also reflect how you share – and balance – your digital lives at home.
We’ll be choosing the top 50 entries to be displayed in the Houses of Parliament in London – and the winners will be invited to attend an event in Westminster to see their artwork on display. We’ll also be selecting two national winners (one aged 5-7, one aged 8-11) who’ll have their trip to London paid for .
For full terms and conditions, check out further information here.
