Thank you so much to the 160 parents that attended our Parent Showcase on Tuesday. This was the first time we have hosted an event like this and we really appeciate the positive words from many parents.
We hope to run similar events in the future.
We have received reports of head lice within school.
To help us manage this and keep everyone comfortable in class, we would be very grateful if you could take a few minutes to check your child's hair and, if necessary, begin treatment.
For clear, step-by-step advice, please follow the official NHS guidance below:
NHS Advice: Head lice and nits
A few helpful reminders:
Hair Styles: If your child has long hair, please ensure it is tied back for school.
Checking: It is often helpful to check all family members to prevent any re-occurrence.
Attendance: There's no need to keep your child off school if they have head lice.
Thank you for your continued support and for helping us keep our school community healthy.
🐶 Dogs: Please ensure that dogs are on leads and under control. If you believe that your dog is not safe to be around children, please do not take it onto school grounds.
🛝 Playground equipment should not be used at the end of the day. This can encourage large groups of children playing unsupervised, which can be dangerous, as well as delaying the closure of gates.
🚗 Paths and roads: A reminder that, although Sutton Safe Streets are in place on Kingsmead Avenue, the road is still open to those with a permit. We have seen an increase in children cycling on the road, or families walking up and down the road, and not noticing cars (which can be incredibly quiet now). Please ensure that your children are being safe on the roads when travelling to and from school.
🅿️ Parking on double yellow lines is not safe for our children and families. Please be considerate of others.
Thank you for your ongoing support.
Friday 6th February
Thank you for celebrating NSPCC Number Day with us today.
We were astounded by the creativity of our children with their outfits.
We are asking for donations to the NSPCC on this day. This can be brought in as a £1 cash donation or paid on our Just Giving page here.
Friday 12th June
On the afternoon of Friday 12th June, we will be hosting our third annual Careers Fair.
We would be interested in inviting parents into school to talk about their jobs and to answer questions from children about their jobs/careers. We would love to find a real mix of jobs and vocations amongst our community in order to show the children a wide variety of future careers out there. Additionally, if you know of someone with an exciting career who you believe would be interested, please state this in the extra details section.
If you would be interested, please complete this Google Form and put the date in your diary!
If you would like to explore ways that our Family Support Worker could support your family, please complete this Google Form.
Please email ccjextendedservices@leoacademytrust.co.uk or phone 07739360621.
Children across the school wrote a wishlist of the different books that they would like to see in their library and their classrooms.
We have collated this wishes and have put together an Amazon Wish List, which can be found here. If parents and families wish, there are over a hundred books that children are desperate to read on the list and these can be ordered as a present to our school. Alternatively, if you notice a book on the list that your children no longer read, we are always grateful for any donations!
It has also been suggested by our children that, on a birthday, rather than bringing sweets in for their classmates, children choose a book on the list that they would like to donate to their class. This also falls in line with our commitment to promoting healthy lifestyles. On the order, there is an option to leave a message - you can specify which class the book is for. As ever, we recognise that money can be tight so please note that this is entirely optional. Any support is always appreciated.
Check out what our children have been up to this week at Cheam Common Junior Academy!
Polite reminder...
As you know, we are a healthy school and therefore ask if your child would like to celebrate their birthday, they donate a book to a library instead of bringing treats. This also ensures there are no concerns over allergies.
We have loved receiving some fantastic homework this term!
Remember: Each year group's homework matrix can be found in the section below. Completing these tasks is optional but can really help to enrich the children's learning and understanding of these topics.

Ryaan completed a Rubik’s Cube in 2 minutes and 14 seconds, beating a family record — Daddy’s best time was 2 minutes and 34 seconds!
It took a lot of patience, focus, and practice, and we thought it might be nice to share this milestone with you. Amazing work, Ryaan!

There is no longer an option to report a child’s absence via telephone. We ask that you use the google forms below to report absence. They are also available to complete on our website using the parent tab.
We do not authorise holidays during term time. If your child is going to be off school due to an exceptional circumstance, then please complete this form:

Please ensure you do not obstruct any gates or double park during drop off or collection times.
Thank you for your support.
Moving address
If you have moved address, it is imperative that you inform the school office as soon as you have moved. It is a requirement that the school has up to date details particularly in case of an emergency.

Junior PE black quarter zip top

Red PE shorts
Please do not donate, shirts, or grey uniform items; we have very limited storage space and we can’t store those items currently. We will let you know when we are able to accept these items again.
Thank you so much for supporting the second hand uniform sale on Friday. We are delighted that good quality school uniform can be reused and help families.
Going forward, we need to reduce the uniform service that we offer unfortunately. We will no longer be taking uniform email requests for the foreseeable future. The uniform service has expanded immensely with donations and requests over the past year. Whilst it has been absolutely wonderful to offer this service to the school community; sadly, we don't have the volunteers to sustain the huge amount of time this service requires.
However, we are very happy to still offer a termly uniform sale, where we'll have plenty of uniform on offer to stock up for the term ahead.
Please leave donations at either the Infants’ or Junior’s office.
We hope you understand the decision we've had to take, and we thank you, as always, for your continued support.
