Email: ccjoffice@leoacademytrust.co.uk http://www.cheamcommon.org.uk/
If you would like to sign up to volunteer as our Cheam Common Summer Fair on Saturday 12th July, you can do so here.
Children can wear MUFTI on 11th July, in return for bringing a prize for our tombola stall.
Entry & Tokens to Summer Fair:
There is a £1 entry fee for adults, which can be paid using tokens (1 token = 50p, so 2 tokens per adult). Tokens can be bought in advance in £5 bundles – cash and card accepted.
To help reduce waiting times on the day, we strongly encourage you to buy tokens in advance.
Advance Token Sales (Infant & Junior Playgrounds):
7th July – AM & PM
8th July – AM & PM
9th July – AM & PM
10th July – AM & PM
The bar will accept tokens for soft drinks, so if your Year 6 child is attending on their own, please let them know they can use their tokens to buy a drink.
Entry Queues on the Day:
To help the event run smoothly, we’ll be using a two-queue system:
Pre-Bought Tokens: Queue from Infants' Gate down Kingsmead Avenue towards junior office (faster entry – just hand over tokens)
Cash/Card Payments: Queue from Infants' Gate towards Balmoral Road (may be slower)
We recommend buying your tokens in advance to avoid long queues on the day.
Need More Tokens?
You’ll be able to purchase additional tokens inside the fair at the Bar, Cake Stall, and Treat Stall.

Thursday 10th July
We are looking forward to re-attempting to host Sports Day on Thursday.
Year 5 and 6: 9:15-11am
Children should come to school wearing a coloured t-shirt relating to their House colour (see below). You can find the House your child is allocated to on your Arbor account home screen.
Please note, there is no expectation to purchase anything new for this day. If your child does not have a t-shirt in their house colour then they should wear their PE t-shirt as normal.

Parents will be able to watch their children take part in various stages of the Sports Day carousel. One of these stations is a 'break', in which children will be given a cold drink and a snack, kindly organised by the Friends of Cheam Common.
Running races will be confirmed on the day. If it is too hot, these will not go ahead.
☀️ We are aware that Thursday is forecast to be a hot day. Children will be given plenty of breaks throughout the activities. Children should bring plenty of water, and be wearing sun cream and sun hats.
Last week, we celebrated Maths Week London. All children were invited to take part in our LEO-wide competition about famous historical mathematicians - Ada Lovelace or Albert Einstein.
All children will receive a certificate for taking part next week and their work will be displayed as part of our Arts Showcase on Wednesday afternoon.
Miss Kelly would like to say a huge thank you to all of our children and families who entered the competition.
Our winners are:
🥇 Ethan - 4M 🥇
🥈 Mildred and Kaylie - 6B 🥈
🥉 Ida - 5D 🥉
Ethan's entry, inspired by Einstein's Theory of Relativity.
Kaylie and Mildred's information leaflet about Einstein and Lovelace.
Ida's posters about both Einstein and Lovelace.
Children across the school wrote a wishlist of the different books that they would like to see in their library and their classrooms.
We have collated this wishes and have put together an Amazon Wish List, which can be found here. If parents and families wish, there are over a hundred books that children are desperate to read on the list and these can be ordered as a present to our school. Alternatively, if you notice a book on the list that your children no longer read, we are always grateful for any donations!
It has also been suggested by our children that, on a birthday, rather than bringing sweets in for their classmates, children choose a book on the list that they would like to donate to their class. This also falls in line with our commitment to promoting healthy lifestyles. On the order, there is an option to leave a message - you can specify which class the book is for. As ever, we recognise that money can be tight so please note that this is entirely optional. Any support is always appreciated.
Check out what our children have been up to this week at Cheam Common Junior Academy!
Polite reminder...
As you know, we are a healthy school and therefore ask if your child would like to celebrate their birthday, they donate a book to a library instead of bringing treats. This also ensures there are no concerns over allergies.
We have loved receiving some fantastic homework this term!
Remember: Each year group's homework matrix can be found in the section below. Completing these tasks is optional but can really help to enrich the children's learning and understanding of these topics.

SEND & Inclusion Updates
Partners including CAMHS, Sutton Local Authority, Education and the Voluntary Community Sector are working with parents/carers to design a pilot to provide early support to families that may have concerns that may be related to Autism or ADHD.
The pilot will aim to provide early support to children and young people with or
without a formal diagnosis.
To make sure this pilot service truly meets the needs of families in Sutton, we would be extremely grateful if you could complete the following short survey:
https://forms.office.com/e/swsnFC9jmK
Your feedback will help to:
Identify gaps in support experienced by parent/carers, ensure that the pilot service is informed by parent/carers and that families receive the help that they need, and improve coordination between services.
The survey should take approximately 15-20 mins to complete; it is open until 23rd June 2025.
If you have any questions about this survey, please contact Diana Salgado, Clinial Service Lead for the Leads Based Model team, through the email:

Mental Health and Wellbeing Update
Help Keep Young People Safe in Our Community!
Please share:
We’re looking for everyday people—shop owners, neighbours, volunteers, parents—who care about young people’s safety and want to make a difference.
What’s a Community Guardian?
A community guardian is a trusted adult who helps look out for young people in the places they spend time—like parks, shops, schools, online spaces, and local neighbourhoods.
You don’t need to be an expert—just someone who’s observant, approachable, and willing to help if something doesn’t feel right.
As a Community Guardian, You Might:
Keep an eye out for signs that a young person might need help
Offer a safe place, like your business or community space, if someone feels unsafe
Build positive relationships with local young people
Help raise awareness about keeping young people safe
Why It Matters
Sometimes, risks to young people happen outside the home. That’s where community guardians come in—offering support and safety in the spaces where young people hang out every day.
Interested in Getting Involved?
We're planning a short training session and will support however you need to help you feel confident. Whether you want to actively participate or just learn more, we’d love to hear from you.
