Thank you for your continued patience with our changing PE timetables. We hope you understand that these changes are made to ensure that every one of our children receive their two hours of PE every week, as well as managing swimming, Forest School, music, as well as so much more!
We are excited to be celebrating the 80th Anniversary of VE Day, on Thursday 8th May.
Children will be completing themed activities in class in the morning, then coming outside for a Street Party in the afternoon. They will be taking part in games from the wartime era, and learning all about why VE Day is celebrated.
Your child is welcome to wear a celebratory VE Day-style outfit to school on Thursday. Think red, white and blue, or wartime celebratory outfits.
If you would like to attend the local Royal British Legion event celebrating this event, it is taking place on Sunday 11th May at 12pm, starting at the Worcester Park War Memorial.
Got a stash of spare fabric gathering dust? Unwanted wool yearning for a purpose? Perhaps some craft pieces that aren't sparking joy anymore? Our vibrant Crafts and Textiles Club is eager to give them a new lease on life! We're on the lookout for donations of any and all materials – from small fabric scraps to full balls of yarn, beads, buttons, and beyond. Your generous contributions will directly fuel our creative projects and help our members learn new skills and bring their imaginative ideas to life. Declutter your craft corners and empower the next generation of makers! Please drop off any donations at the office or 4HJ by Friday 23rd May.
Thank you for your support!
Mrs Judge & Craft and Textiles Club!
On Sunday 11th May, a group of Cheam Common Junior staff are taking part in the Marsden March! They will be walking 15 miles to raise money for the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.
If you're also taking part, come along and say hello! We'll be easy to spot with LEO balloons.
Alternatively, if you would like to donate to this worthy cause, you can do so here.
Monday 30th June
We are excited to announce the date of our second ever CCJ Careers Fair on Monday 30th June (1-3pm).
As we did last year, we would like to invite parents to partake in this Careers Fair. If you would be willing to give up your afternoon to come in and speak to classes about your career, please complete this Google Form.
We recognise that this date is far in advance. If your plans change, please do not worry. This is simply a register of interest.
Children across the school wrote a wishlist of the different books that they would like to see in their library and their classrooms.
We have collated this wishes and have put together an Amazon Wish List, which can be found here. If parents and families wish, there are over a hundred books that children are desperate to read on the list and these can be ordered as a present to our school. Alternatively, if you notice a book on the list that your children no longer read, we are always grateful for any donations!
It has also been suggested by our children that, on a birthday, rather than bringing sweets in for their classmates, children choose a book on the list that they would like to donate to their class. This also falls in line with our commitment to promoting healthy lifestyles. On the order, there is an option to leave a message - you can specify which class the book is for. As ever, we recognise that money can be tight so please note that this is entirely optional. Any support is always appreciated.
Check out what our children have been up to this week at Cheam Common Junior Academy!
Polite reminder...
As you know, we are a healthy school and therefore ask if your child would like to celebrate their birthday, they donate a book to a library instead of bringing treats. This also ensures there are no concerns over allergies.
We have loved receiving some fantastic homework this term!
Remember: Each year group's homework matrix can be found in the section below. Completing these tasks is optional but can really help to enrich the children's learning and understanding of these topics.
Check out Laurie (Year 3)'s incredible Egyptian-style flatbreads, that he made over the weekend. He was surprised to see how many of the traditional Egyptian ingredients were still used today and how bread making hasn't really changed in centuries!

This week, Jaxon & Lotus in Year 6 won their football league cup final with their team, The Saints.
It was tight game that went to penalties. Jaxon scored his opening penalty & Lotus scored the final one to win the game 5-3! Well done, boys!
We have another set of achievements for both Daisy and Molly in 3S as they just found out they passed their IDTA Preparatory Grade Tap exams which they took before the Easter holidays. What an achievement!
On Saturday, Cooper visited the Tutankhamun immersive exhibition in East London! He learnt lots more about mummification and the discovery of King Tut’s tomb.
If you have a chance to visit, we'd definitely recommend!
On Saturday 26th April Sami, Ryan, Jack and Leo from 3T and Daniel from 3F represented an Under 8 New Malden Little league Team in a football tournament at Cheam Park.
Despite losing two and winning one out of their three group matches they finished third and qualified for the semi final of the plate tournament thanks to three goals from Ryan.
In the semi final they started to bond as a team defending really well and they qualified for the final by Daniel poaching a well taken goal to win the game 1-0.
In the final they went behind by one goal but further brilliant defending by Jack and Leo and vital saves by Sami enabled them to stay in the game and for Daniel to score his second goal to level the game at 1-1.
The real drama was saved till the last minute when Ryan capping a battling tournament performance raced into the penalty area with the ball at his feet about to pull the trigger when he was brought down by the opposition defender, the referee pointed to the penalty spot, Ryan got up, dusted himself down, composed himself, (unlike the parents on the sideline who looked on nervously) and smashed the ball in the back of the net.
A few nervy seconds later the whistle blew, they'd won 2-1, the parents were able to calm and the team went on to lift the trophy by captain Sami.
Over the five games Ryan scored four goals and Daniel two with excellent defending by Jack and Leo and superb saves by Sami.
The CCJA year 3 boys represented five of the nine players in the squad and the parents thought that their resilience, determination and working and playing together at CCJA helped them battle through to a trophy winning tournament.
Well done, boys!
