Wednesday 2nd October 8:45-9:45am
On Wednesday 2nd October, we would like to invite parents of children with Special Educational Needs to join us for a Coffee Morning in the Cheam Common Junior hall. This will be an opportunity to network and chat with other parents. Members of the leadership team will also be present to have a chat and answer any questions.
Please note that you are more than welcome to attend if you have children with Special Educational Needs that attend other schools. It is simply an informal chance to speak with parents who might have similar experiences.
If you would like to attend, please complete this short form so that we can provide refreshments accordingly.
On Monday 21st October, we would like to invite parents into school to come and see our children learning in their classrooms.
Parents are free to arrive between 2:15-2:30pm for coffee, then you will be invited to classrooms from 2:30-2:55pm to see your children's class in action and even to take part in activities with your child.
If you would like to attend, please complete this short Google Form, so that we can make arrangements.
Monday 30th September - Friday 4th October
Once again, we will be collecting food donations to celebrate our annual Harvest Festival.
From Monday 30th September to Friday 4th October, we will be accepting donations of items listed below:
Instant mash, cereal (not porridge), Weetabix, rice pudding, custard, instant coffee, biscuits, noodles, jam / honey / marmalade, ketchup / brown sauce / mayonnaise, peanut butter, chocolate spread, shampoo / conditioner, deodorant, shower gel, soap, chocolate/ sweet treats. They are also accepting any other tinned products or long life products.
On Friday 4th October, Year 3 children will be performing their Harvest Assembly to the rest of the school.
These donations can be brought into school and, either donated at the CCJ Main Gate (the car park) or your child can bring them to their classrooms.
Throughout the year the Young Writers host a range of competitions for 7-12 year olds. This time round, the theme is Wonderverse Poetry! Wonderverse Poetry is an exciting, fun way to engage 7-12 year-olds with creative writing by inspiring them in different themes.
Children will be inspired to delve into their imaginations to write a poem about any topic. Using any style or technique, they can write about incredible worlds or fantasy creatures, express their inner thoughts or emotions, describe their favourite people, places or hobbies, or write about your class topic. Watch this video to find out more.
The opportunity to see their work in print will inspire our pupils to get writing, and everyone chosen for publication will receive a certificate of merit. There are also fantastic prizes to be won, including an incredible £1,000 for the school!
At the end of the last academic year, we opened up the competition of Ancient Adventures across the school. We are pleased to announce that 64 entries have been chosen and will be published in the book: Ancient Adventures - Story Time. Successful entrants will be informed on prizes etc later when more information is received.
Let's take our pupils into the Wonderverse today! If this sounds like something you are interested in, speak to your learning council representative, your class teacher or Miss Holloway.
Closing Date: Friday 25th October 2025.

As part of our ongoing efforts to encourage creativity and hands-on learning in our art classes, we are in need of some additional supplies. To help protect the children's clothing during art activities, we would like to kindly ask for donations of old shirts or t-shirts that can be used as art aprons. Ideally, long-sleeved shirts would be most suitable, but any size or style is greatly appreciated!
If you have any old shirts or t-shirts at home that you no longer need, we would be grateful if you could send them into school with your child to give to Miss Maclean (4M).
Thank you in advance for your generosity and continued support.
Miss Maclean
Children across the school wrote a wishlist of the different books that they would like to see in their library and their classrooms.
We have collated this wishes and have put together an Amazon Wish List, which can be found here. If parents and families wish, there are over a hundred books that children are desperate to read on the list and these can be ordered as a present to our school. Alternatively, if you notice a book on the list that your children no longer read, we are always grateful for any donations!
It has also been suggested by our children that, on a birthday, rather than bringing sweets in for their classmates, children choose a book on the list that they would like to donate to their class. This also falls in line with our commitment to promoting healthy lifestyles. On the order, there is an option to leave a message - you can specify which class the book is for. As ever, we recognise that money can be tight so please note that this is entirely optional. Any support is always appreciated.
A massive shoutout to Aarush (4F) and his family for donating all of these books from our wishlist to his class to celebrate his birthday. Thank you and happy birthday, Aarush!
Check out what our children have been up to this week at Cheam Common Junior Academy!
Polite reminder...
As you know, we are a healthy school and therefore ask if your child would like to celebrate their birthday, they donate a book to a library instead of bringing treats. This also ensures there are no concerns over allergies.
Thank you, Bobby, for your birthday donations!
We have loved receiving some fantastic homework so early in the term!
Remember: Each year group's homework matrix can be found in the section below. Completing these tasks is optional but can really help to enrich the children's learning and understanding of these topics.
