On the afternoon of Friday 12th June, we will be hosting our third annual Careers Fair.
We would be interested in inviting parents into school to talk about their jobs and to answer questions from children about their jobs/careers. We would love to find a real mix of jobs and vocations amongst our community in order to show the children a wide variety of future careers out there. Additionally, if you know of someone with an exciting career who you believe would be interested, please state this in the extra details section.

🎒 Important Reminders for Parents 🎒
● Times: 9:00 am – 3:00pm
● Cost: £20.00 per day, per child.
Before the half term break and as part of our mid-year review, letters will be sent to families of children with attendance below 90% (the threshold for persistent absence). These are routine administrative reminders to help you keep track of your child’s time in school. You can check your child's current marks anytime via the Arbor app.
Class teachers will be available to discuss attainment and 'catch-up' support for any gaps caused by absence during Parent Consultations after half-term. Please remember that persistent absence or 10+ sessions of lateness can result in Local Authority fines. We look forward to working together to support your child’s progress!
🐶 Dogs: Please ensure that dogs are on leads and under control. If you believe that your dog is not safe to be around children, please do not take it onto school grounds.
🛝 Playground equipment should not be used at the end of the day. This can encourage large groups of children playing unsupervised, which can be dangerous, as well as delaying the closure of gates.
🚗 Paths and roads: A reminder that, although Sutton Safe Streets are in place on Kingsmead Avenue, the road is still open to those with a permit. We have seen an increase in children cycling on the road, or families walking up and down the road, and not noticing cars (which can be incredibly quiet now). Please ensure that your children are being safe on the roads when travelling to and from school.
🅿️ Parking on double yellow lines is not safe for our children and families. Please be considerate of others.
Thank you for your ongoing support.
There is no longer an option to report a child’s absence via telephone. We ask that you use the google forms below to report absence. They are also available to complete on our website using the parent tab.
We do not authorise holidays during term time. If your child is going to be off school due to an exceptional circumstance, then please complete this form:
Request for Exceptional Absence form in advance for future appointments and exception absence.
Cheam Common Juniors' Absence Form for sickness and same day medical appointments.
If you have moved address, it is imperative that you inform the school office as soon as you have moved. It is a requirement that the school has up to date details particularly in case of an emergency.
Please email the school office ccjoffice@leoacademytrust.co.uk if your details need updating. Alternatively, you can update them using the Arbor App.
If you would like to explore ways that our Family Support Worker could support your family, please complete this Google Form.
Please email ccjextendedservices@leoacademytrust.co.uk or phone 07739360621.
Children across the school wrote a wishlist of the different books that they would like to see in their library and their classrooms.
We have collated this wishes and have put together an Amazon Wish List, which can be found here. If parents and families wish, there are over a hundred books that children are desperate to read on the list and these can be ordered as a present to our school. Alternatively, if you notice a book on the list that your children no longer read, we are always grateful for any donations!
It has also been suggested by our children that, on a birthday, rather than bringing sweets in for their classmates, children choose a book on the list that they would like to donate to their class. This also falls in line with our commitment to promoting healthy lifestyles. On the order, there is an option to leave a message - you can specify which class the book is for. As ever, we recognise that money can be tight so please note that this is entirely optional. Any support is always appreciated.
Check out what our children have been up to this week at Cheam Common Junior Academy!
Polite reminder...
As you know, we are a healthy school and therefore ask if your child would like to celebrate their birthday, they donate a book to a library instead of bringing treats. This also ensures there are no concerns over allergies.
Happy birthday to Aylin and Riyen (Year 4), and thank you for your kind donations.
We have loved receiving some fantastic homework this term!
Remember: Each year group's homework matrix can be found in the section below. Completing these tasks is optional but can really help to enrich the children's learning and understanding of these topics.
We are looking forward to our next Celebration Assembly in the Summer Term.
If you would like to share your child's achievements outside of school with us, we'd love to hear them! Please complete this short form to tell us all about it.
Check out Shivansh's football trophies that he brought in to show his classmates. Thank you for sharing, Shivansh!
Jonathan has been playing in New Malden Little League for the past two years and at the weekend he was the proud recipient of The Junior Sportsmanship Award. This award is voted for by all the team managers and goes to the player who has shown a fantastic attitude and team spirit throughout the whole season. Well done Jonathan - we're so proud of you!
Kirtan successfully completed the 1.5km Swimathlon Challenge, alongside his sister.
Well done, Kirtan!
Caiden has graduated from his Aquatots Swimming School this month after completing all 29 levels and having attended since the age of 4 months old. He has also achieved his 500m badge.

5 Challenge
We are excited to launch the Cheam Common Spring 5 Challenge, a fun and inspiring way for our students to try new things while helping to raise money for our school.
The idea is simple: children complete 5 fun challenges during the spring term and ask family and friends to sponsor them through our JustGiving page.
To take part, please print the Spring 5 Challenge booklet for your child. The booklet includes everything they need to get started, some fun competitions to take part in and a certificate inside to celebrate their achievement once all five challenges are completed.
Children can choose their own activities or take inspiration from the challenge categories:
• Caring – Do something kind for others
• Active – Take part in a physical challenge
• Creative – Make, build, draw, or create something
• Puzzling – Complete a puzzle or brain teaser
• Brainy – Learn something new or test your knowledge
• Foodie – Cook or bake something delicious
Challenges could include baking for neighbours, learning a new skill, walking a certain distance, solving puzzles, taking part in a run, or doing acts of kindness. Every challenge helps make a difference.
How the Challenge Works

Students may also choose to take part in the Nonsuch Junior Parkrun on 22nd March at 9:00am. This is a 2km run where children can participate independently as part of their Spring 5 Challenge.
If your child would like to take part, they will need to:
• Register with Parkrun in advance
• Bring their personal barcode/QR code so their run can be recorded
Important:
The deadline to complete challenges and competitions is 12th April 2026.
You can sponsor students and donate here:
Let’s get a positive start to spring, encourage children to try new things and help raise money for our school community.
Thank you for your support.
A gentle reminder, please only donate the items listed below.
Logo jumper
Logo cardigan
Logo fleece
Logo waterproof jacket
Logo PE tshirt
Logo polo shirts
Junior PE black quarter zip top
Ties
Red PE shorts
Please do not donate, shirts, or grey uniform items; we have very limited storage space and we can’t store those items currently. We will let you know when we are able to accept these items again.
Thank you so much for supporting the second hand uniform sale on Friday. We are delighted that good quality school uniform can be reused and help families.
Going forward, we need to reduce the uniform service that we offer unfortunately. We will no longer be taking uniform email requests for the foreseeable future. The uniform service has expanded immensely with donations and requests over the past year. Whilst it has been absolutely wonderful to offer this service to the school community; sadly, we don't have the volunteers to sustain the huge amount of time this service requires.
However, we are very happy to still offer a termly uniform sale, where we'll have plenty of uniform on offer to stock up for the term ahead.
Please leave donations at either the Infants’ or Junior’s office.
We hope you understand the decision we've had to take, and we thank you, as always, for your continued support.
