We would like to wish all of our families a safe and happy half term.
Remember: Monday 4th November is an INSET Day. Children's first day back at school will be Tuesday 4th November.
On Tuesday 5th November, we would like to invite parents into school to come and see our children learning in their classrooms.
Parents are free to arrive between 2:15-2:30pm for coffee, then you will be invited to classrooms from 2:30-2:55pm to see your children's class in action and even to take part in activities with your child.
If you would like to attend, please complete this short Google Form, so that we can make arrangements.
Please find our new Curriculum Newsletters attached for the second half of the Autumn Term. Many year groups are starting completely new topics with new Homework Matrixes, so it is worth checking.
Year 4 parents should have received information regarding Year 4 Forest School, starting after half term. Please check this email carefully as it will explain which clothes your child needs to bring and/or wear to school.
Thank you so much to everyone who donated items during our Harvest Festival Week. Our donations were dropped off by members of the CCJ School Council.
This year, our School Council will be selling poppies to commemorate Remembrance Day (Sunday 10th November). These will be sold from Tuesday 5th - Friday 8th November and the suggested donation is £1 to buy (ideally £1.50 for snapbands).
If your child would like to purchase one, please ask them to bring £1 in cash to school. Alternatively, these can be bought from the school office.
On Monday 11th November, we will be celebrating and taking part in Odd Socks Day! We are looking forward to seeing all of your colourful socks next week as 'Odd Socks Day' marks the start of Anti-Bullying Week.
Odd Socks Day is designed to be fun, however the main focus is to raise awareness of Anti Bullying Week and it is an opportunity to encourage people and children to express themselves whilst expressing their individuality and what makes us all unique!
There is no pressure to wear the latest fashion or to buy expensive costumes. All you have to do to take part is wear odd socks to school on Monday 11th November!
We would love you to read a poetry entry from one of our Year 6 pupils, Sofie. Last week, Year 6 were writing poetry to celebrate National Poetry Week. We loved it and hope you do too!
LEO Academy Trust is incredibly proud to work in partnership with the National Institute of Teaching as an Associate College to deliver Initial Teacher Training, (ITT) Early Career Framework (ECF) and National Professional Qualifications (NPQs) from September 2025. Associate Colleges are successful school trusts, selected because of their wealth of in-house expertise in professional development and their deep relationships in their local areas. This collaboration allows us to be at the forefront of educational excellence, providing local teachers with unparalleled opportunities for professional growth, learning and development. Together, we are shaping the future of teaching and learning, ensuring that every child receives the highest quality education.
Applications for our primary ITT courses are now open for September 2025! Our initial teacher training is a fully immersive school-centred programme - aspiring teachers will be in the classroom from the very start. But full immersion does not mean that you will be thrown in the deep end: our trainees are mentored and have central training once a week.
To apply for a place on our ITT programme please click here.
Children across the school wrote a wishlist of the different books that they would like to see in their library and their classrooms.
We have collated this wishes and have put together an Amazon Wish List, which can be found here. If parents and families wish, there are over a hundred books that children are desperate to read on the list and these can be ordered as a present to our school. Alternatively, if you notice a book on the list that your children no longer read, we are always grateful for any donations!
It has also been suggested by our children that, on a birthday, rather than bringing sweets in for their classmates, children choose a book on the list that they would like to donate to their class. This also falls in line with our commitment to promoting healthy lifestyles. On the order, there is an option to leave a message - you can specify which class the book is for. As ever, we recognise that money can be tight so please note that this is entirely optional. Any support is always appreciated.
Check out what our children have been up to this week at Cheam Common Junior Academy!
Polite reminder...
As you know, we are a healthy school and therefore ask if your child would like to celebrate their birthday, they donate a book to a library instead of bringing treats. This also ensures there are no concerns over allergies.
Thank you, Jessica, for your book donation. Happy birthday!
We have loved receiving some fantastic homework so early in the term!
Remember: Each year group's homework matrix can be found in the section below. Completing these tasks is optional but can really help to enrich the children's learning and understanding of these topics.

On Sunday 6th November, Bella represented her dancing school at the NATD Grand Finals in Birmingham. She competed in the Junior Tap section with a solo, and was placed 5th out of 22 competitors. She was so proud of her achievement which demonstrated practice & perseverance makes progress!
Freddie was a mascot for Fulham Football Club last Saturday in their game against Aston Villa. He got to meet all the players and run out onto the pitch with them before the game. He was also interviewed on the big screen and featured in the program.
Can you spot Amelia photobombing at a performance of 80s live?
