Email: ccjoffice@leoacademytrust.co.uk http://www.cheamcommon.org.uk/
We would like to welcome our children, staff and families back to school. We hope you had a safe and restful holidays. We are looking forward to a busy term ahead.
Our clubs all start next week. Your child's clubs will be available to view on Arbor. If your child is taking part in a paid-for club, please ensure that this is paid promptly.
Morning clubs: Children should be dropped at the office between 7:40-7:45am. They will be buzzed in and will wait in the office for their club to start. Children should come to their club wearing PE kit and have their uniform to change into afterwards (unless they have PE that day). They will be dismissed straight to class after their club.
Afternoon clubs: Children will go straight to their clubs after school. If they are unsure of where to go, they can check with their class teacher or the office. Children should change into PE kit for their sports clubs. Children should be collected from the school car park at 4:15pm. Please note that JD Football School ends at 4:30pm.
Boys' Football (4:30pm club): If your child has a 3:15pm club, they are welcome to wait in the office for this club. Otherwise, they should be dropped at the school office between 4:20-4:30pm. These children should be collected from the school office at 5:30pm.
Cheerleading: Our Cheerleading Club takes place at the Worcester Park Scout Hut (Balmoral Road). Children will be walked down by Miss Brooks and Miss Mills. Children should be collected from the Scout Hut at 4:30pm. After 4:40pm, if a child has not been collected, they will be walked up to school. If your child attends After School Club, they will also be walked up to school.
Please be reminded that Year 4 swimming lessons start this Monday. Please ensure that children bring in swimming trunks/costumes, a towel and underwear to change into afterwards. Children with long hair should wear a swimming cap.
For a seventh year in a row, Cheam Common Junior has been listed as one of the top 1000 primary schools in England by The Times. Published last week, Parent Power 2025 identifies the highest achieving secondary, primary & prep schools in the UK.
We are going to take part in the Big Schools' Birdwatch this term, led by our Eco Council.
If you would like to take part in the Big Garden Birdwatch as a family, you can sign up here.
You can find out about the artists that we study at Cheam Common Junior Academy here. We are excited to hold our Arts Showcase on Monday afternoon, where children will view one another's artwork from the Autumn Term.
Children across the school wrote a wishlist of the different books that they would like to see in their library and their classrooms.
We have collated this wishes and have put together an Amazon Wish List, which can be found here. If parents and families wish, there are over a hundred books that children are desperate to read on the list and these can be ordered as a present to our school. Alternatively, if you notice a book on the list that your children no longer read, we are always grateful for any donations!
It has also been suggested by our children that, on a birthday, rather than bringing sweets in for their classmates, children choose a book on the list that they would like to donate to their class. This also falls in line with our commitment to promoting healthy lifestyles. On the order, there is an option to leave a message - you can specify which class the book is for. As ever, we recognise that money can be tight so please note that this is entirely optional. Any support is always appreciated.
Check out what our children have been up to this week at Cheam Common Junior Academy!
Polite reminder...
As you know, we are a healthy school and therefore ask if your child would like to celebrate their birthday, they donate a book to a library instead of bringing treats. This also ensures there are no concerns over allergies.
Thank you for your book donations, Isobel!
We have loved receiving some fantastic homework this term!
Remember: Each year group's homework matrix can be found in the section below. Completing these tasks is optional but can really help to enrich the children's learning and understanding of these topics.
Check out Oliver (3S)'s incredible piece of homework. He created a volcano that he and his class erupted this week, using bicarbonate of soda and vinegar!
Sana has been researching Asian Elephants as part of her homework.
Albie has been researching Sumatran Tigers as part of his homework.
Look at these incredible volcanoes created by Year 3!
