At Cheam Common Junior, we would like to welcome you all back after the Easter break. We hope you all have had a lovely and restful two weeks and that your children are ready to go on what is set to be an incredibly busy and exciting term full of exciting learning opportunities.
As part of their tour of EdTech Demonstrator schools, we were pleased to welcome Google into Cheam Common Junior this week to showcase the fantastic work both our children and teaching staff have completed through the use of their 1:1 Chromebook devices.
As part of being an EdTech demonstrator school, Cheam Common Junior has opened its doors and welcomed teaching professionals from across the country to showcase the various ways technology can be used to enhance learning opportunities for all.
During the day, visitors from Google visited each of the classes across the school and our fantastic Digital Leaders held an open panel, where they were asked a range of questions based on their learning and use of technology. Well done to all involved!
Once back at school, children continued their learning through a range of school-based science activities organised by the Year 3 team before spending the night at school. Thank you to all those that helped our during the trip and to our Year 3 team for making it such a success! Well done all!
On Saturday, our wonderful Year 6 Girls Netball team took part in the Sutton Netball Tournament where they completed against several schools at Overton Grange School.
Throughout the morning, our team had a fantastic time playing a series of short 10-minute matches against each of the schools where they showed fantastic skills on the court and wonderful team work. Across their matches, the girls were fortunate to win several of their matches.
Unfortunately, the year 6 Netball team missed out playing the finals but were incredibly proud of their achievements. Well done all and thank you to Mrs Culver for organising.
Both teams performed exceptionally well and we are pleased to announce that children took home first place, coming top of the leader board. As a result, children will now go through to the National Finals in June! Well done and congratulations to all involved.
Children from across Year 5 and Year 6 participated in the Surrey Geoff Richards U11 Cricket competition this week where they played a range of cricket matches against four schools in total both within the LEO academy and the local area.
Everybody enjoyed taking part demonstrating such wonderful sportsmanship throughout the day as they won several of their matches.
Thank you to Mr Ewing and to Mr Warner for organising and we look forward to the next event coming soon. Well done boys for your fantastic effort.
As a school, we have been offered several free tickets for families to attend the Emirates FA Cup and Vitality Women’s FA Cup which takes place on Sunday 15th May at Wembley stadium. As we are unable to run a school trip on this date, we are offering these tickets for any child and their family that is interested on a first come basis. The cost of tickets are free.
If you are interested in using any of these tickets, please complete the Google Form with the number of adult and child tickets that you require.
Additionally, you can fill out another family’s name that you would like to be seated near to. This is not guaranteed but we will do our best to accommodate.
