Friends of Cheam Common have organised a wonderful day but need volunteers to come forward and help.
Thank you for your continued support and effort and we look forward to seeing you and celebrating during this event.
With the sun out and shining brightly, children across Cheam Common Junior came together to take part in their annual Sports Day. Held at the local 4th Worcester Park Scout Hut, children took part in a carousel of sporting activities including, mini golf, javelin, speed bounce, sack race and the 'egg and spoon challenge'. Plenty of encouragement, perseverance and laughter was had throughout the day, as children threw themselves into each challenge successfully. At the end of each Sports Day, children competed in their house team running races, where even the teachers and parents competed, which was great fun to see.
Firstly, thank you to Mr Ewing and Miss Hendra for organising a fantastic day and members of Cheam High for helping to run each of the events. Children had a wonderful time and it was due to all the hard-work, preparation and effort involved.
Secondly, Thank you to the Friend of Cheam Common for organising snacks and treats for all.
Finally, thank you to the children, parents and carers for a brilliant turn out and for making it the success it truly was.
Continuing with our annual year group residential trips, Year 4 children have had a fantastic time at High Ashurst this week. Throughout their stay, children have relished the opportunity to partake in a variety of outdoor based activities.
From forest-based skills to building fires, rock-climbing, abseiling and even roasting marshmallows, children have had a blast challenging themselves as they throw themselves excitedly into every challenge.
Each evening, children settled down to a variety of home-cooked dinners, sat round the campfire to sing songs, play games and tell stories before heading off to their tepees and cabins to rest before another action packed day followed.
Thank you to all the adults who accompanied the children helping them make memories they will never forget!
A fantastic day for our Year 6 girls who competed in the Surrey County Cricket Finals this week.
After an impressive display of teamwork, perseverance and encouragement, the girls secured victory and finished first, winning the tournament.
Congratulations to all the teams who took place and a special congratulations to the girls for such an impressive win.
Thank you to Mr Ewing for organising and leading the team and thank you to Surrey Cricket & Sunbury Cricket for hosting.
Well done girls, we are so incredibly proud of you all!
Earlier this term, children from across Cheam Common Junior took part in an array of activities designed to celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.
As part of these celebrations, children contributed to a special birthday card designed by Vasu (Year 6), where they each write personalised messages to Her Majesty, before it was sent off to be presented to her.
This week, we were privileged to receive a special royal correspondence from Windsor Castle in the form of a letter, thanking us for some a beautiful gift and to express their dearest gratitude. Honoured and thankful indeed!
Congratulations to Cheam Common Junior who have been awarded the 'Positive Playtime Award' due to their outstanding provision during playtime and lunchtimes.
A huge thank you to all our Support Staff and Midday Supervisors who have led the initiative and helped raise the profile of playground games and activities. Children have enjoyed the many activities on offer and has shown a positive improve all round.
Thank you to Mrs Townsend, Mrs Hart, Mrs Davis, Mrs Walter-Simons and Miss Brooks for championing this across the school.
Next week’s Craze of the Week is 'Tennis' and the 'Game of the Week' is ‘Fruit Salad’.
Our sports leaders will be on hand to help run games and crazes as well as model skills of turn taking, being respectful to adults, each other and the equipment, helping all children have a happy play time.
On Tuesday 05th July, 6pm, Sutton Music Services will be showcasing the talent of children across Sutton as part of the KS2 music Festival. Scan the QR code above to buy tickets!
On Saturday 25th June, LEO Academy will be taking part in St Raphael's Lavender Memory 6 Mile charity walk. Use the code above to receive a 10% discount when registering!
On 9th July 2022, Shawley Community Primary will be hosting our first-ever children's market run by children for children and there are a few spaces left should your child wish to take part! Your child could sell pre-loved toys, games or books or set up a games stall for a bit of fun. Perhaps they make jewellery, crafts, cookies or smoothies etc?
Running a stall costs £2 and whatever your child makes on the day goes directly to them providing your child the perfect opportunity to put their entrepreneurial skills to good use. A responsible adult must support each child on the day but the child is responsible for the selling, set up, signs and clearing away.
If your child does not fancy having a stall, why not come along with some cash to have a look around and support our mini entrepreneurs! This event is purely to bring both the local and the LEO community together so we would love to see you there.

Please can we remind all parents / carers to be considerate of the local community, members of Kingsmead Avenue and neighbouring streets regarding on street parking.
During peak hours, we ask that those who drive their children to school, be mindful of parking across members of the public driveway, blocking in and/or restricting access for vehicles to pass.
Furthermore, even though the Sutton Street Scheme has proven successful, please note that the road is still in use and that parents, carers and children should be mindful not to walk in the road nor obstruct oncoming traffic from those who live on Kingsmead Avenue.
Many thanks.

The London Borough of Sutton’s Cultural Services is launching a brand new Summer Reading Club for children from 4 to 11 years of age. This year’s Summer Reading Club aims to promote reading for pleasure and to prevent the dip in reading attainment which can occur over the summer by encouraging children to read throughout the holidays.
The new Summer Reading Club promotes reading for through a wide range of both physical books and eBooks, including Audiobooks. They ask that children borrow and read six library books and invites them to join us for one or more of the exciting STEAM-themed events which will be held at our Libraries or Heritage houses this summer. The project will begin on Friday 1st July and will run throughout the summer holidays.
Parents will be able to sign their children up to the Summer Reading Club either online or at one of libraries within the Borough of Sutton and will be entered into a prize draw where they could win a family ticket to Bockett’s Farm, a family ticket to Oxygen Freejumping or one of 5 £20 Amazon vouchers.
