Cheam Common Junior Academy: Kingsmead Avenue, Worcester Park KT4 8UT
Email: ccjoffice@leoacademytrust.co.uk http://www.cheamcommon.org.uk/
It has already been a busy start to the Summer Term here at Cheam Common Junior with children hard at work. With new topics to discover and a variety of learning opportunities, check out the incredible work children have completed so far!
Last Friday, our incredible children as part of the CCJ choir, took part in the Young Voices concert held at the O2. With all of the LEO academy schools taking part as well as children from various other schools, it was an amazing experience as they performed a collection of well-known pop songs. Well done to all those that took part and thank you to Miss Green, our Director of Music for organising.
At the beginning of the week, children from across Year 4 took part in the Surrey Cricket Foundation Activity Day at the KIA Oval, London where they had the chance to practice and develop their sporting skills. Taking part in a range of activities, children had a lot of fun and even had their face painted too! Thank you to Mrs Townsend and Mrs Hart for organising and for Mrs Davis who accompanied them.
As part of Mandarin Club, children have been enjoying celebrating their learning by taking part in a live virtual web meet with their host school, Tianfu No. 6 primary School ahead of their proposed visit in 2023. It was a fantastic opportunity for children to share information, ask questions and learn from one another. Thank you to Miss Brooks for organising such an opportunity.
We have had a great week, where children have been taking part in various skipping based activities. Children particularly enjoyed the skipping competition.
Next week’s 'Craze of the Week' is tennis skills and the 'Game of the Week' is ‘Sharky, Sharky’.
Remember, our sports leaders will be on hand to help run these games and crazes as well as to model skills of turn taking, being respectful to adults, each other and the equipment and helping all children have a happy play and lunchtime.
This half term, we are very excited to welcome back parent / carer visitors to the school after recent closures over the past two years. On Thursday 19th May from 2pm - 3pm, we would like to welcome the parents of Year 3 & 5 to come and meet members of the Senior Leadership Team, take a tour of the school courtesy of our Head Boy and Girl before visiting your child's class where they will show case their learning from the past academic year. Year 4 & Year 6 open afternoon will take place on Tuesday 24th May from 2pm - 3pm.
If you would like to take part in the open afternoon, please complete the Google Form to book a place.
To celebrate the Queen's upcoming Jubilee, we will be holding a special tea party on the afternoon of Wednesday 25th May and children can come to school in Mufti. Children can come to school wearing the colours of either red, white and blue or a combination of all three as part of the celebrations.
Supported by the Friends of Cheam Common, we are that a small donation be contributed which will go towards the Summer Fair 'Rainbow Raffle'.
