Remembrance Day - 11th November 2021
In order to commemorate and honour armed forces members who died in the line of duty during the First World War, children at Cheam Common Junior held a special 2 minute silence at 11am, where they paid respect to all the fallen soldiers.
Children also helped raise money for those affected by war, by purchasing Poppies and other Remembrance Day items. All money donated will help those affected by war. Well done all!
Pudsy Day is almost upon us here at Cheam Common Junior as the annual Children in Need 2021 kicks off next week on Friday 19th November 2021.
At Cheam Common Junior, we are asking for children to come to school dressed in pyjamas. Children can wear 'Onesies', dressing gowns or their favourite set of pyjamas. Please note that we ask for children to dress sensibly should it be cold or if it rains. All children can take part and should they wish, make a donation of a £1.
On Thursday 18th November, as part of Children in Need, our School Council members will be holding a 'cake Sale' after school in the main playground. If you would like to donate cakes as part of the sale, please give them to your child's class teacher or the School Office before Thursday 18th.
As part of Anti Bullying Week, children can come to school on Monday 15th November wearing a pair of odd-socks and is a great way to celebrate what makes us all different and unique. Odd Socks Day is designed to be fun! It’s an opportunity to encourage people to express themselves and celebrate their individuality through a pair of odd-socks!
For this event, we are not asking children to donate money, rather to help raise awareness by wearing an odd-pair of socks. During the week, children will take part in various class based discussions and activities, talking about bullying and how to support one another. Children will also be taking part in a special assembly run by the NSPCC.
At Cheam Common Junior, we always encourage children to either walk, cycle or ride their scooter to school.
Should your child cycle or ride a scooter, please can we ask that bikes and scooters are clearly labelled with your child's name and class and where possible, a lock is provided. This is to ensure that the wrong bike or scooter is not accidentally taken home. Please can we ask that you check any bike's or scooter's your child may have brought home.
Recently, a pink scooter has been misplaced. If your child may have picked up the wrong one, we ask that this be returned to the School Office. Many thanks.
This year we are pleased to invite you to watch your child perform as part of a class Christmas Carol Concert. Children will perform alongside another year group class, singing a range of traditional and modern Christmas inspired songs and carols.
Each performance will take place during the school day. However, if you are unable to attend the allocated time, a pre-recorded performance will be available after the live show. Performances will be in the school hall and children can dress wearing their Christmas Jumpers.
In order to limit the spread of Covid, we would request that a maximum of two adults attend the concert and we suggest that you may wish to wear masks during the performance.
Tickets for each performance will be released w/c 22nd November.

Is your child an aspiring young artist? Enter our competition – and they could win an amazing trip to the Houses of Parliament!
Our Find Your Balance: A day in my digital life art competition, in partnership with Google, is asking children to draw a picture showing how they find a healthy balance in their online and offline lives.
We are looking for a colourful and creative picture that shows how your child makes sure the internet works for them. It could also reflect how you share – and balance – your digital lives at home.
We’ll be choosing the top 50 entries to be displayed in the Houses of Parliament in London – and the winners will be invited to attend an event in Westminster to see their artwork on display. We’ll also be selecting two national winners (one aged 5-7, one aged 8-11) who’ll have their trip to London paid for .
