Cheam Common Junior Academy: Kingsmead Avenue, Worcester Park KT4 8UT
Email: ccjoffice@leoacademytrust.co.uk http://www.cheamcommon.org.uk/
Due to the oncoming heatwave, we are expecting an increasing rise in temperature over the next week. Following guidance issued by LEO Academy Trust, Cheam Common Junior will remain open but will continue to regularly monitor the situation making reasonable adjustments to ensure children remain cool, calm and safe at all times.
On Monday and Tuesday, children are to come to school wearing their PE kits: a white t-shirt and red shorts. Other sporting attire is not permitted. We would like to remind all parents and carers to ensure their children come with a hat, water bottles are filled and to ensure sun cream has been applied before coming to school.
At break and lunch time, children will have a mixture of supervised indoor & outdoor play sessions in shaded areas with water stations set up to help keep children hydrated. Classrooms will continue to remain well ventilated with regular breaks for water throughout the day. Whole school assemblies will be postponed until later in the week. During this period, children will not participate in any vigorous physical activity during PE lessons.
We will continue to monitor the situation daily and should further guidance or updates from the central government or LEO be issued, we will inform you at the nearest possible opportunity.
Should you have any questions, please speak to a member of the Senior Leadership team.
Please not that there will be no before or after school club activities running due to it being the final week of term. Furthermore, school will finish on Friday 22nd July at 2pm.
During the week, children may wish to bring an extra plastic bag into school in order to take home their school exercise books, PE kits and any other items.
School will return on Tuesday 6th September 2022.
On Wednesday 20th July, children can come to school in mufti as part of their class party celebrations, which will take place in the afternoon at both Cheam Common Infant and Cheam Common Juniors. Food and drinks will be provided by the Friends of Cheam Common, as well as a whole host of dancing, singing and party games!
This week, Year 6 took to the stage where they performed to parents, family members and children across Cheam Common Juniors and Infants a brilliant production of 'The Wizard of Oz'. After weeks of rehearsals, producing amazing costume and set designs and practising their all-singing, all-dancing musical numbers, children performed outstanding and has shown again what a fantastic year group they are. Well done to all the children on all your achievements this year and thank you to all the teachers, parents and adults who helped put together what has to be one of the best productions in years! Check out the photos below from each of the cast performances.
During this term, members of the Forest School have been working incredibly hard to rejuvenate our outside environment area as part of the local 'Sutton in Bloom 2022' competition. From putting up 'Bee-friendly' areas to introducing new plants, shrubs and garden displays, the area has come truly come alive. As such, Cheam Common Junior's Forest School display has been recognised for its achievements and has been awarded first place in the 'Best School Garden Category'. Congratulations to all the children who helped as well as our fantastic Forest School team, Mrs Joseph, Mrs Holding and Mr Sage.
A presentation and award ceremony is to take place next Tuesday 19th at Beddington Park, from 2pm - 3pm.
This week saw our fantastic Year 3 & 4 and Year 5 & 6 gymnastics and dancers take to the stage to perform in the annual Gym Kids end of year performance. Watched by proud parents, family members and children from across the school, children back flipped, cart wheeled, tumbled, leapt and twirled through the air to much delight.
Congratulations to all the children involved for their outstanding effort and to Mrs Crosland who has trained and mentored the children throughout the year!
On Saturday, Shawley Community Primary School held their annual Children's Market, where children from across the LEO Trust were invited to set up stalls and sell a range of goods, where they could keep the profit made. During the day, both children, teachers and adults had lots of fun exploring, celebrating all the children's hard work in setting up an array of fantastic stalls. A huge well done to Yusuf (5M), who participated on the day, where he set up and showcased his stall independently, engaged with customers and even managed to offer special deals to help 'seal the deal'. Congratulations Yusuf for your incredible entrepreneurial skills: a future businessman in the making!
On Saturday 16th July 2022, Friends of Cheam Common's Summer Fair takes place across Cheam Common Infants & Juniors playgrounds from 11am - 2pm. With an array of stalls, activities, competitions and performances on offer, it is sure to be a fantastic day for all the family. Tickets for each stall can be purchased on the day .

In order to ensure information is accurate, it is important that this is kept up to date, especially should we need to contact you for any reason.

Many thanks.
Please can we remind all parents / carers to be considerate of the local community, members of Kingsmead Avenue and neighbouring streets regarding on street parking.
During peak hours, we ask that those who drive their children to school, be mindful of parking across members of the public driveway, blocking in and/or restricting access for vehicles to pass.
Furthermore, even though the Sutton Street Scheme has proven successful, please note that the road is still in use and that parents, carers and children should be mindful not to walk in the road nor obstruct oncoming traffic from those who live on Kingsmead Avenue.
Many thanks.
