Thank you for your continued patience with our changing PE timetables. We hope you understand that these changes are made to ensure that every one of our children receive their two hours of PE every week, as well as managing swimming, Forest School, music, as well as so much more!
Please be aware that hand-held fans are not permitted in school. All classrooms have fans based in them, and these hand-held devices are proving to be a distraction in class, as well as items getting lost/broken.
You can find out about what your child will be learning in the first half of the Summer Term by looking at their Curriculum Newsletters below.
You will also find Homework Matrix information on these.
Our children had so much fun celebrating VE Day on Thursday. They started the day with an assembly by Miss Fox and Miss Bishop, where they were also treated to performances of wartime songs.
In the afternoon, the entire school came outside to take part in lots of games together, in our bunting-adorned playground.
On Tuesday, members of our Year 6 Girls' Football Team were taking part in the final of the Sutton Schools FA Cup. They were playing against St George's Primary and the game was hosted at Meadowbank Stadium, in Dorking.
The girls played incredibly well against a very tough side, and the game finished 4-2 to St George's. We are so proud of our girls!
The match was filmed and we were so amazed by one of our goals that we thought we share it with everyone. Check out Jas' goal!
Got a stash of spare fabric gathering dust? Unwanted wool yearning for a purpose? Perhaps some craft pieces that aren't sparking joy anymore? Our vibrant Crafts and Textiles Club is eager to give them a new lease on life! We're on the lookout for donations of any and all materials – from small fabric scraps to full balls of yarn, beads, buttons, and beyond. Your generous contributions will directly fuel our creative projects and help our members learn new skills and bring their imaginative ideas to life. Declutter your craft corners and empower the next generation of makers! Please drop off any donations at the office or 4HJ by Friday 23rd May.
Thank you for your support!
Mrs Judge & Craft and Textiles Club!
On Sunday 11th May, a group of Cheam Common Junior staff are taking part in the Marsden March! They will be walking 15 miles to raise money for the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.
If you're also taking part, come along and say hello! We'll be easy to spot with LEO balloons.
Alternatively, if you would like to donate to this worthy cause, you can do so here.
Monday 30th June
We are excited to announce the date of our second ever CCJ Careers Fair on Monday 30th June (1-3pm).
As we did last year, we would like to invite parents to partake in this Careers Fair. If you would be willing to give up your afternoon to come in and speak to classes about your career, please complete this Google Form.
We recognise that this date is far in advance. If your plans change, please do not worry. This is simply a register of interest.
Children across the school wrote a wishlist of the different books that they would like to see in their library and their classrooms.
We have collated this wishes and have put together an Amazon Wish List, which can be found here. If parents and families wish, there are over a hundred books that children are desperate to read on the list and these can be ordered as a present to our school. Alternatively, if you notice a book on the list that your children no longer read, we are always grateful for any donations!
It has also been suggested by our children that, on a birthday, rather than bringing sweets in for their classmates, children choose a book on the list that they would like to donate to their class. This also falls in line with our commitment to promoting healthy lifestyles. On the order, there is an option to leave a message - you can specify which class the book is for. As ever, we recognise that money can be tight so please note that this is entirely optional. Any support is always appreciated.
Check out what our children have been up to this week at Cheam Common Junior Academy!
Polite reminder...
As you know, we are a healthy school and therefore ask if your child would like to celebrate their birthday, they donate a book to a library instead of bringing treats. This also ensures there are no concerns over allergies.
We have loved receiving some fantastic homework this term!
Remember: Each year group's homework matrix can be found in the section below. Completing these tasks is optional but can really help to enrich the children's learning and understanding of these topics.
