News

LEO Inclusion Website

We understand that home learning can be challenging for many children and families, particularly those with additional needs.

Over the past year, we have all had to adapt to new ways of working and we acknowledge that this has not been easy for anyone. We fully understand that you or your child might be feeling a little anxious at this time but we wanted to assure you that we are here for you every step of the way.

The school SENDCo, your child's teacher and the support staff have been working very hard to ensure that the online teaching being delivered during this closure period, supports the needs of your child and their individual next steps in learning.

To further support you, we have put together some resources on this site that we think might help with managing learning at home.

You can start by accessing our FAQ's page here where you may find links to resources that can help.

Please remember, we are here to help! If you cannot find anything you are looking for, please do not hesitate to contact your child's class teacher / SENDCo who will be able to help.

This Week's Events

LEO Maths Week

This week children have enjoyed taking part in Maths Week. A firm favourite was the creation of a maths board game. We have been very impressed with the ideas everyone has come up with. Today we have ended with a number dress up day - some great ideas! Well done to everyone at home and school for getting involved.

Upcoming Events

Children's Mental Health Week

Children’s Mental Health week is next week - 1st to 7th February. During this current, exceptional, period, it is important we look after our mental as well as our physical health. Therefore, next week, we will be helping children think about how they can look after their mental health. During the week, children will be asked to complete a daily activity from the mental wellbeing choiceboard linked to the NHS 5 steps to mental wellbeing.

The theme of this year’s week is ‘Express Yourself’ so we are also asking children to choose a way to express themselves. This could be through dancing, painting, cooking or singing - whatever they like! On Friday, we will have a ‘Dress to Express’ day where children can wear their own clothes to help them express themselves.

We hope while enjoying the activities and tasks children also learn the importance of looking after their mental health.

We can’t wait to see how they express themselves!

Lastly, the staff at CCJ have put together a video to show ways you can look after yourselves during this time and what they like to do make themselves happy! You can watch the video here. We hope you enjoy it!

Information & Resources

Some of these ideas will help you start conversations with your child, keep them entertained and inspired, and encourage you to enjoy quality time together as a family. All of which are important for your well being. Click here to visit the website.

BATTLE OF THE BOOKS

This week's book is 'The Ship of Shadows' by Maria Kuzniar.

Aleja is a dreamer who longs for a life of magic and adventure. So when a mysterious ship arrives in her Spanish harbour city, crewed by a band of ruthless women, Aleja knows it's sailed right out of a legend. Most importantly, it wants her. However, life aboard the Ship of Shadows is more than even she bargained for. It will take all of Aleja's strength and skill to gain the trust of her fellow pirates - and discover what they are risking everything to find . . .

Ship of Shadows is an utterly spellbinding read from start to finish. Be enthralled by the daring, feisty and fearsome band of pirates as they set sail on the Seven Seas. Meet otherworldly and supernatural creatures all in the search of glorious treasures. This swashbuckling tale has it all - storms in jars, magic kraken bells, lost cities and a truly unique pirate ship, and I loved it. A new instant favourite of mine, Ship of Shadows is a feast for the imagination; utterly captivating in all its glory. Mr Perrott.

Remember to fill in a book review once you have read a book so that your teacher can stamp your bookmark!

You can find your child's Battle of the Books suggested book list on our school website via the following link:

Here you will find most books listed, however we are continually updating and showcasing our recommended reads as new books are released.
