Parents and carers only need to inform the school of a positive case where symptoms developed within 48 hours of being in school. The school would then advise close contacts to self isolate via email.
If children develop symptoms after 48 hours you are not required to inform the school but would follow the NHS guidance in regards to isolation.
Where pupils need to self-isolate due to contact with a positive case during the holiday, school does not need to be informed about this until the first day of the 2nd half of the Summer term.
On Monday we were delighted to welcome senior leaders from Western House Academy to share our approach to using technology for learning across the curriculum. They worked with teachers, digital leaders and our Year 5 pupils.
This week, 28 children from Cheam Common joined other children from across LEO Academies to take part in a virtual trip to Chengdu. You can find the template to use here.
Once you are happy with your design, you can either email it to gogreen@leoacademytrust.co.uk or hand your entry to your teacher.

SIASS is currently recruiting for the following volunteer positions:
SIASS Steering Group is seeking 3 Parent/Carer representatives to serve a 3 year term, starting in September 2021. The only criteria to apply is that you are a parent/carer of a child or young person aged 0-25 with a Special Education Need or Disability (SEND). SIASS is the statutory service in Sutton that provides information, advice, and support for parents, children, and young people with SEND. The Steering Group currently meets every other month online for up to an hour and a half to support SIASS with troubleshooting and provide strategic feedback to accomplish SIASS’ organisational development goals. If you are interested in serving on the SIASS Steering Group, please email a letter of interest and brief bio regarding your family’s experience with SEND to laura.haupt@siass.co.uk before July 1st. All letters and bios will be shared at Steering Group in July and new parent/carer reps will be elected by the group. A brief induction for new steering group members will be held in September prior to the first meeting.
SIASS is recruiting for two volunteers to serve at least 3 hours per week, supporting new service users. Your role will involve listening to and responding to initial inquiries via telephone or email, assessing what support is needed, and either signposting the service user to relevant resources or forwarding their information to SIASS caseworkers who will respond with more complex casework and support. All necessary training and tech will be provided to equip volunteers for the role, including free IPSEA level 1 legal training. More information about SIASS can be found at www.siass.co.uk. This week's book is Song of the Dolphin Boy by Elizabeth Laird and is from the Year 4 book list.
Finn has always been different, and in the tiny fishing village of Stromhead he sticks out like a sore thumb. Always told to keep away from the water, he's felt that something was missing until one day he dives in and finds that, swimming with the dolphins, he feels completely at home.
But his new friends are in danger of being injured by the rubbish that floats out into the water - and now a supermarket is going to release thousands of balloons that could drift out to sea and cause even more damage. Desperate to help the dolphins, Finn goes to the Lighthouse Crew, a group of kids who have always left Finn out. Will they be able to set aside their differences to save the dolphins? And what will Finn discover about his past along the way?
A moving adventure about the impact of plastic pollution on our seas, and the campaigning power of friendship from the award-winning Elizabeth Laird, illustrated by Peter Bailey.
The children need to remember to fill in a book review once they have read a book!

ziploc® brand sandwich bags
water (1/4 cup)
lemon juice (1/4 cup)
vinegar (1/4 cup)
milk (1/4 cup)
apple slices
permanent marker (soft, felt-tipped)
Gather your materials
On four Zippy sandwich bags, write the name of the liquid you’re going to test. Label a fifth bag “nothing” for your control bag. This bag will contain apples with no liquid. That way, you’ll be able to see the difference between a normal apple and the other apples that have been soaked!
Pour the water, lemon juice, vinegar, and milk in separate bags. Make sure to match each liquid to its label.
Place two apple slices in each bag. Seal the bag and lightly shake it so the liquid coats the apple slices. Let them soak for two or three minutes.
Pour any excess liquid out of the bags. Reseal them and check on the apples every 10 to 15 minutes to see what happens. Which ones turn brown? Which ones stay fresh?
When apples are cut, the exposed fruit underneath the skin react with the oxygen in the air, which causes the apple slices to turn brown. This experiment explores how the apple slices react when coated with different liquids, like milk, lemon juice, vinegar, or water. You’ll discover lemon juice is one of the liquids that work best. That’s because lemon juice is very acidic (and why it tastes so sour!) and will react with oxygen before oxygen reacts with the apple. A light spritz of lemon juice will keep your apples fresh without altering their taste too much.
Don’t forget to present your findings to Miss Lane or Mr Iliffe!
