As you will be aware, the NEU (National Education Union) is calling for its members to strike on Wednesday 1st February. Please read the most recent advice released by the school here.
Please note that there will be no school-run clubs in the week commencing Monday 6th February. This is due to parent consultation evenings being held throughout the week.
All clubs run by external agencies (see below) will be running as usual.
TKD, JDFS, GymKids, Ballet, Flair Sports and Mandarin
The School Council is launching their Toy Swap Shop! This will be taking place on Friday 10th February in the afternoon and run by the School Council. Best of all, everyone can get a new toy, puzzle, book or game for FREE! So how will this work?
Any day during week 6 - week beginning 6/2/23, children can bring in a toy, book, puzzle or game that they no longer want but that is still in good condition.
Their name will be written on the back of a raffle ticket which can be kept safe by their class teacher.
If you want to bring in more than 1 toy, that is fine but you will only be able to choose a second item at the end of the swap shop, not at your class' session.
A number can be written on the back of the raffle ticket to show how many toys were originally brought in.
All toys will be collected on Friday morning and a time slot will be given to each year group to attend the swap shop in the afternoon.
Each child will need their named raffle ticket to ‘buy’ a new item from the swap shop.
Thanks for your help with this.
School Council
On Friday 3rd February, we will be celebrating NSPCC Number Day. As well as completing various different activities in school, children are invited to come to school in their best Maths-themed outfit! They could dress as their favourite mathematician, wear a number-related T-shirt, dress up as a mathematical tool - the options are endless!
If you are able to, you can donate to our JustGiving page here. Alternatively, children can bring in £1 on the day. Please note that donations are optional!
Cheam Common Junior Academy are running an Air Quality Day on Friday 3rd February to raise awareness of ways we can all help clean up London’s air through our travel choices.
Our Junior Travel Ambassadors are launching a competition to raise awareness of ways we can all help reduce air pollution. To get involved, we are asking pupils to put forward their ideas for how the school community can improve air quality and produce a top-tips leaflet, poster or video to showcase their ideas. Be as creative as you'd like!
The winning entries will be shared with the rest of the school to promote their ideas and encourage the school community to take action.
The deadline for the competition is Monday 30th January. For more details, please speak to your Junior Travel Ambassadors.
See the information below about Planet League. Your child can sign up online and take part in various activities to earn 'goals'. Your child can choose the team that they'd like to represent but we'd appreciate any children that choose to represent our local team, Sutton United.

Do you have any secondhand books or board games that you no longer need? At Cheam Common, we would appreciate donations of any of these items. Thank you for your support in advance!

The group meets during assembly time and is led by Mrs Hart.
