We would like to say a huge thank you to our Year 5 children, who enjoyed their Gardening Day on Tuesday. Whilst their brand-new classrooms were getting prepared (we hope to share these with you soon!), the children enjoyed activities such as bug hotel building, plant pot painting, building planters and planting herbs in our outdoor areas.
A special thank you to the Jennings family, who very kindly donated a £50 voucher, as well as various essentials for the day. You made the day even better for our children. It is so appreciated!
Monday 30th June
We are excited to announce the date of our second ever CCJ Careers Fair on Monday 30th June (1-3pm).
As we did last year, we would like to invite parents to partake in this Careers Fair. If you would be willing to give up your afternoon to come in and speak to classes about your career, please complete this Google Form.
We recognise that this date is far in advance. If your plans change, please do not worry. This is simply a register of interest.
Dear Parents,
We are excited to share an inspiring opportunity with you! During our recent Arts Council meeting, we discussed ways to enrich our students' creative experiences and make the arts more accessible to them. As visiting art galleries can be challenging due to costs and logistics, we thought—what better way than to bring the creativity directly to our school?
We would love to invite parents who work in creative industries—whether that’s painting, drawing, modelling, cake decorating, graphic design, or any other artistic field—to lead a workshop or give a talk about their career. This could be either during an after-school session for a group of around 30 students or as part of our upcoming Arts Week, from 7th to 11th July.
If you’re passionate about what you do and would like to inspire the next generation of artists and creators, we would be thrilled to hear from you! Please reach out to us at ccjoffice@leoacademytrust.co.uk, FAO Miss Maclean.
Thank you for helping us make the arts more vibrant and accessible for our students. We can’t wait to hear from you!
Yours sincerely,
CCJ Arts Council and Miss Maclean
Children across the school wrote a wishlist of the different books that they would like to see in their library and their classrooms.
We have collated this wishes and have put together an Amazon Wish List, which can be found here. If parents and families wish, there are over a hundred books that children are desperate to read on the list and these can be ordered as a present to our school. Alternatively, if you notice a book on the list that your children no longer read, we are always grateful for any donations!
It has also been suggested by our children that, on a birthday, rather than bringing sweets in for their classmates, children choose a book on the list that they would like to donate to their class. This also falls in line with our commitment to promoting healthy lifestyles. On the order, there is an option to leave a message - you can specify which class the book is for. As ever, we recognise that money can be tight so please note that this is entirely optional. Any support is always appreciated.
Check out what our children have been up to this week at Cheam Common Junior Academy!
Polite reminder...
As you know, we are a healthy school and therefore ask if your child would like to celebrate their birthday, they donate a book to a library instead of bringing treats. This also ensures there are no concerns over allergies.
Thank you to Cooper (3B) and Sean (5D) for their generous donations to their class to celebrate their birthdays.
We have loved receiving some fantastic homework this term!
Remember: Each year group's homework matrix can be found in the section below. Completing these tasks is optional but can really help to enrich the children's learning and understanding of these topics.
Look at the photos below for some examples of fantastic homework!

If you would like to share your child's achievements outside of school with us, we'd love to hear them! Please complete this short form to tell us all about it.
Molly and Daisy (Yr 3) have been rehearsing since February for the Stars of Tomorrow show, which they performed at the New Wimbledon Theatre during the Easter holidays.
What an achievement!
Jessica recently achieved her swimming Bronze Award, as well as the 400m award.
Well done!
Sehoon went fishing during the Easter break and caught a fish! What an impressive achievement, well done Sehoon!
Joshua and Zoe both participated in the Epsom passion play which took place on Good Friday. They performed in the street theatre production in front of 100s of people. They delivered their lines with great confidence and enjoyed being part of the play and acting out different parts. They were really good at learning their lines and attending the rehearsals, joining in with enthusiasm.
While camping, Zoe spotted a dog in the bushes that looked a bit lost. Worried about the dog, she checked with the farmer if the dog belonged to her. When the farmer said no, and confirmed there were no dogs on the campsite, Zoe set out to find the dog. After a while we found the dog together and she gently coaxed the dog with sausages and water to gain its trust. She called Joshua to help and went to call the farmer to get a leash and help as we saw the dog had a tag, so we could locate the owner. Together they stayed with the dog until we found the owner who was very grateful as the dog had gone missing after running off on their walk.
They also both successfully passed their green belt grading in kickboxing. This was a particularly tough 2 hour grading session during which they were very disciplined and focused, giving 100% and doing their best.
We love hearing about these achievements!
