School Updates
All members of staff at Cheam Common Junior Academy would like to wish our families a Merry Christmas.
We hope you have a restful, happy and safe Christmas holidays.
We will see you again on Monday 8th January.
Goodbye, Mrs Martin!
After 17 years at Cheam Common Junior Academy, Mrs Martin bids us farewell this week. A pillar of our community, she leaves a legacy of passion, support, and unwavering kindness. Though we'll miss her dearly, we celebrate the countless lives touched and the number of children that she has helped over the years. Thank you, Mrs Martin.
Christmas Performances
Thank you to all of our families who came along to watch our year group Christmas performances this week. We are so proud of the children. Remember that these performances can be viewed on your child's Google Classroom.
David Sweetland
It is with deep regret that we have been informed of the passing of Mr Sweetland who worked for both the Infants and Juniors in a variety of roles for many years. He was also known outside of school for his dedication to 4th Worcester Park Scouts. I know you will join us in sending our sincere condolences to his family.
JamCoding Clubs: Spring Term
We host the JamCoding Clubs at Cheam Common on Monday and Tuesday afternoons.
If you are interested in signing your child up to one of these clubs, please follow the following links:
Merit Assembly
On Wednesday morning, we celebrated the termly achievements of our children in Merit Assembly.
Merit Awards are handed out at the end of each term and two children per class are chosen. Principal's Perseverance Awards are also awarded in Year 6. In year groups, there are awards for reading, writing, art, maths and handwriting, as well as various sports awards. You can see the names of the winners in our Stars of the Week section.
We also watched the first ever episode of CCJ Sports, our Cheerleading performances and heard our Choir sing.
Our Book Wishlist
Children across the school wrote a wishlist of the different books that they would like to see in their library and their classrooms.
We have collated this wishes and have put together an Amazon Wish List, which can be found here. If parents and families wish, there are over a hundred books that children are desperate to read on the list and these can be ordered as a present to our school. Alternatively, if you notice a book on the list that your children no longer read, we are always grateful for any donations!
It has also been suggested by our children that, on a birthday, rather than bringing sweets in for their classmates, children choose a book on the list that they would like to donate to their class. This also falls in line with our commitment to promoting healthy lifestyles. On the order, there is an option to leave a message - you can specify which class the book is for. As ever, we recognise that money can be tight so please note that this is entirely optional. Any support is always appreciated.

SEND & Inclusion Updates
Cognus: Festive Holiday Programme
Young Carers at Cheam Common
At Cheam Common Junior Academy, we hold a weekly small group session to support children across the school who fulfil the role of ‘Young Carer’ because they have a sibling or parent with serious health issues, special educational needs or disabilities (SEND).
We want to celebrate the important role our Young Carers play, but also recognise that they may face challenges and pressures not shared by the general school population.
The group meets during assembly time and is led by Mrs Hart.
If you would like your child to take part please complete this form.
If you have any questions about the group, please feel free to contact us at ccjsend@leoacademytrust.co.uk
