Year 4 parents,
As part of an upcoming art lesson, we're asking for your help! The children will be creating and drawing their own narrative scenes, and we need some small toys to use as props.
If possible, please send in any small figurines, toy animals, dolls' house furniture, or other small plastic toys. These items will be used solely for the lesson and will be returned afterwards.
To make sure nothing gets lost, please send the toys in a sandwich bag, small box, or any clearly labeled container with your child's name on it.
You can start bringing the items in from Monday, 22nd September. They will be returned on Friday, 26th September.
Thank you in advance for your support in making this a creative and enjoyable experience for the children!
We will be collecting harvest donations from Monday 29th September to Monday 6th October.
Suggested items: UHT milk, pasta, pasta sauce, tinned meats, tinned fish, tinned vegetables, rice, instant mash, cereal, long-life juice, long-life sponge puddings, and toiletries like shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, and deodorant, along with biscuits and jam. Any nappies or baby formula would be greatly appreciated!
This can be brought in with your child throughout that week, who can give them to their class teacher or put them on the donations table at the main car park gate.
If you would like to explore ways that our Family Support Worker could support your family, please complete this Google Form.
We have been so impressed by how smart our children have looked this week.
Please ensure that children's clothes are named - especially jumpers, coats and cardigans. Our lost property is full of these every year, and we would love for that not to be the case!
Please remember that any breaktime snacks for children should be healthy. Fruit and vegetables are encouraged, along with cereal or fruit bars. Crisps and chocolate are not permitted and children will be asked to return these to their lunchboxes.
Next week, we are excited to be starting PE lessons. We ask children to come into school already in their kit on the days that they have PE.
We strongly discourage children from bringing their own toys into school. In our experience, these are likely to be lost or broken, often causing great upset amongst our children. Please refrain from letting your children bring these into school.
This includes 'Labubu' dolls - these are expensive toys that we do not want to be lost or broken in school.
We do not accept any responsibility for toys that are lost or broken in school.
This survey is about parent/carer confidence in the support offered to children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) within mainstream schools in Sutton.
This survey is for parent/carers of all children and young people with SEND or suspected SEND. If more than one of your children has SEND, please complete separate surveys for each child.
The information you provide will help us to understand how parents and carers feel about current practices and identify areas where further support may be needed.
Please complete this survey by 30th September 2025.
Children across the school wrote a wishlist of the different books that they would like to see in their library and their classrooms.
We have collated this wishes and have put together an Amazon Wish List, which can be found here. If parents and families wish, there are over a hundred books that children are desperate to read on the list and these can be ordered as a present to our school. Alternatively, if you notice a book on the list that your children no longer read, we are always grateful for any donations!
It has also been suggested by our children that, on a birthday, rather than bringing sweets in for their classmates, children choose a book on the list that they would like to donate to their class. This also falls in line with our commitment to promoting healthy lifestyles. On the order, there is an option to leave a message - you can specify which class the book is for. As ever, we recognise that money can be tight so please note that this is entirely optional. Any support is always appreciated.
We would like to say a huge thank you to Isha (Year 3) and her parents, who have donated ten books to the school from our wishlist. What amazing generosity!
Check out what our children have been up to this week at Cheam Common Junior Academy!
Polite reminder...
As you know, we are a healthy school and therefore ask if your child would like to celebrate their birthday, they donate a book to a library instead of bringing treats. This also ensures there are no concerns over allergies.
We have loved receiving some fantastic homework this term!
Remember: Each year group's homework matrix can be found in the section below. Completing these tasks is optional but can really help to enrich the children's learning and understanding of these topics.
Happy birthday and a huge thank you for your book donation to your class!
