You will now have been invited to sign up for your child's Parent Consultation Evening slot, falling on the dates above.
One of our parent's wedding rings has been lost at school. If found, please return to the school office.
We want to learn more about how we can help your school and LEO Academy Trust to improve parental engagement, so your time and honesty are much appreciated! This survey will ask questions about the communication between carers and school, confidence in the school’s strategy and other aspects.
If you would like to complete the survey, you can do so here.
Thank you for your time!
With over 60 entries, judging this year's Book in a Jar competition was extremely tough. Please see our winning entries here! Thank you to all of the families who entered - your creativity and enthusiasm was so appreciated!

Friday 21st March
This year Red Nose Day is on Friday 21st March and, as usual, the School Council would like to raise some money for this great cause as well as the children having lots of fun!
Firstly, we will be selling red noses in school for £2.00 (the price set by the charity) from Monday 10th March. Our School Council members will be going round to each class from Monday and the children will be able to buy them using cash. We are asking that the children take the red noses home, these are not to be worn in school until Friday 21st March. If children buy red noses from Sainsbury’s, these also need to stay at home until Friday 21st March 2025.
Secondly, as this year’s theme is ‘Do Something Funny For Money’, we are asking all children to come to school with ‘Crazy Hair’. We are asking for a donation, with the suggested amount being £1, which will be collected at the gate as the children come into school. Please see below some examples of ‘crazy hair’ ideas…
We hope that the children enjoy the day and hopefully, we as a school, can raise some money for Comic Relief. As always, thank you for your continued support. We look forward to seeing your crazy hairstyles!
Miss Beagle and the School Council
Monday 30th June
We are excited to announce the date of our second ever CCJ Careers Fair on Monday 30th June (1-3pm).
As we did last year, we would like to invite parents to partake in this Careers Fair. If you would be willing to give up your afternoon to come in and speak to classes about your career, please complete this Google Form.
We recognise that this date is far in advance. If your plans change, please do not worry. This is simply a register of interest.
As part of our partnership with St Helier's Hospital, some of our staff have volunteered to abseil down the hospital on Friday 25th April.
Miss Davies, Miss Mills, Miss Brooks, Mr Iliffe, Miss Shallcross, Mr Francis, Miss Bishop, Miss Fox and Mr Strange are taking part in this challenge.
If you would like to donate to their joint page, you can do so here. Alternatively, you can scroll to the bottom of the page and donate to a specific member of staff!
Dear Parents,
We are excited to share an inspiring opportunity with you! During our recent Arts Council meeting, we discussed ways to enrich our students' creative experiences and make the arts more accessible to them. As visiting art galleries can be challenging due to costs and logistics, we thought—what better way than to bring the creativity directly to our school?
We would love to invite parents who work in creative industries—whether that’s painting, drawing, modelling, cake decorating, graphic design, or any other artistic field—to lead a workshop or give a talk about their career. This could be either during an after-school session for a group of around 30 students or as part of our upcoming Arts Week, from 7th to 11th July.
If you’re passionate about what you do and would like to inspire the next generation of artists and creators, we would be thrilled to hear from you! Please reach out to us at ccjoffice@leoacademytrust.co.uk, FAO Miss Maclean.
Thank you for helping us make the arts more vibrant and accessible for our students. We can’t wait to hear from you!
Yours sincerely,
CCJ Arts Council and Miss Maclean
Children across the school wrote a wishlist of the different books that they would like to see in their library and their classrooms.
We have collated this wishes and have put together an Amazon Wish List, which can be found here. If parents and families wish, there are over a hundred books that children are desperate to read on the list and these can be ordered as a present to our school. Alternatively, if you notice a book on the list that your children no longer read, we are always grateful for any donations!
It has also been suggested by our children that, on a birthday, rather than bringing sweets in for their classmates, children choose a book on the list that they would like to donate to their class. This also falls in line with our commitment to promoting healthy lifestyles. On the order, there is an option to leave a message - you can specify which class the book is for. As ever, we recognise that money can be tight so please note that this is entirely optional. Any support is always appreciated.
Check out what our children have been up to this week at Cheam Common Junior Academy!
Polite reminder...
As you know, we are a healthy school and therefore ask if your child would like to celebrate their birthday, they donate a book to a library instead of bringing treats. This also ensures there are no concerns over allergies.
Happy birthday, Lara, and thank you for your book donation!
We have loved receiving some fantastic homework this term!
Remember: Each year group's homework matrix can be found in the section below. Completing these tasks is optional but can really help to enrich the children's learning and understanding of these topics.

Barclay found a lost cat in the road on Tuesday, covered in mud and clearly lost. Barclay named her “Tuna” and fed her and looked after her so that we could get her to a vet. “Tuna” was luckily microchipped and Phoebe (her actual name) was reunited with her owners the next day. We are all very proud of how caring Barclay was and how invested he was in making sure Phoebe got back home.
What an amazing act of kindness!

Hi! I'm Clara, I'm 10 years old and I need your help to help others: I'm taking part in Swimathon 2025 and on the 29th of March I'm swimming 5km to raise money for Cancer Research UK, Marie Curie & Swimathon Foundation, who do great work for a cause that's very close to my heart. If you can, please donate to my fundraising project on GivenGain and share! Thank you.

Over Easter, our concrete basketball court is being re-covered in a safer, bouncier material. This is all down to the work that this group does. Thank you!
