I hope you all had a nice Christmas break even during these current times.
This term has not started the way that we hoped for but we have tried to support both families who are learning at home and at school.
It has been fantastic to see how the children have adapted and accessed the learning.
I appreciate adjusting to distance learning is a challenge and understand that families have childcare and their own work to juggle too! Please do not worry and do what you can.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact the School Office or the year group inboxes.
Thank you for all of the lovely messages- we really appreciate it!
Stay safe,
Miss Gunner

School Streets schemes in Sutton will not be operating during the National Lockdown and will not be enforced.
The temporary suspension of Sutton’s schemes acknowledges the large reduction in traffic volume which will be caused by the stay at home guidance and the subsequent limited availability of volunteers.
Signage has been covered to make this clear to parents, residents and staff. Updates have also been placed on the council website and on social media. The suspension will be reviewed in line with national guidelines on when schools are permitted to reopen to the majority of pupils again.
...to all the volunteer school street guides who have helped us to staff barriers so far. Your help has been crucial in ensuring the success of the scheme.
Where the World turns Wild by Nicola Penfold
Animals, trees, flowers, our city forbids them all…
Juniper Greene lives in a walled city from which nature has been banished, following the outbreak of a deadly man-made disease many years earlier. While most people seem content to live in such a cage, she and her little brother Bear have always known about their resistance to the disease, and dream of escaping to the one place humans have survived outside of cities: the wild. When scientists discover that the siblings provide the key to fighting the disease, the pair must flee for their lives. As they journey into the unknown, they soon learn that there's cruelty in nature as well as beauty. Will they ever find the home they're searching for?
A thrilling, thought-provoking and relatable ecological adventure! Not only is this book beautifully written, but it will broaden your knowledge and mind completely!
Remember to fill in a book review once you have read a book so that your teacher can stamp your bookmark!
You can find your child's Battle of the Books suggested book list on our school website via the following link:

Here you will find most books listed, however we are continually updating and showcasing our recommended reads as new books are released.
This week, your challenge is to investigate the senses.
You will need: a family member, and a blindfold!
This challenge can be as easy or difficult as you like! All you need to do is put a blindfold on your family member (or yourself) and see how the other senses are heightened when sight is taken away!
You could test their senses by seeing if they can identify objects blindfolded by:
Tasting different foods
Giving them different objects to touch
Putting different flowers/perfumes/foods under their nose to smell
Make different noises around the room
We would love to know which senses are strongest when blindfolded! This challenge will be lots of fun so send us your pictures and results!
