Upcoming Events

National Doughnut Week - 9th-16th May

Due to the current situation, The Children's Trust and CSM Bakery Solutions have made the decision to cancel National Doughnut Week 2020.

However, if you want to get baking at home and try to make your own doughnut recipes then please do! Don't forget to share some pics with us!

If you would still like to support The Children's Trust, a national charity that provides care for children all over the country, the click this link:

National Numeracy Day

"National Numeracy Day is all about recognising that numbers play a big part in all our lives and helping people sharpen their skills and build their confidence"

LEO Academies is excited to be taking part in National Numeracy Day on Wednesday 13th May!

Instead of a daily maths lesson, there will be a one-off video session with different activities and challenges from National Numeracy Day to try! We want to celebrate all of the fantastic maths work you are doing at home, so please share with us any pictures, work or activities you are getting up to.

There are also plans for a Virtual Festival to be held. Check out their website or the LEO Distance Learning website for more information!

Calling all Year 1 and Year 2 children who love quizzes!

On Monday we will be putting a quiz about VE Day on the distance learning website. I wonder who will be the quickest to answer the questions? If you would like to find out more information about VE Day before Monday visit our distance learning website and click on the choice board.

What has been happening this week?

Twitter

Last week two authors contacted us on Twitter about the children's work. Well done to the children seen in the photos.

Let's see if other authors will be in contact!

VE Day

Today is the 75th anniversary of VE Day. This week the Google hangouts have been sharing facts and pieces of work the children have created. Click here to see this week's assembly.

Google Hangouts

This week we have had a few technical hitches so we apologise. We will be working on these and hopefully we will resolve them before the next hangout session.

If you are having difficulties joining then please read our guidance. Also if you could not see everyone in the hangout this week, you will need to download the extension. Please use this link https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/google-meet-grid-view/bjkegbgpfgpikgkfidhcihhiflbjgfic.

When in the hangout, could we also request that children do not click on the presentation button and only use the mute/unmute button. Finally we would also like to request that whoever is visible on the screen is dressed and aware that everyone participating in the hangout can see them. Hopefully this will help and everyone will be able to access the hangouts.

Egg update

The children have been sending their predictions.

Another exciting delivery

Reception had another exciting delivery this week. Click here to see what has arrived.

We have updated our distance learning website. We have put all of the previous learning in an archive tab. The archive tab is at the top of the screen next to the year group. You just need to click on the arrow. There is also a new assembly tab at the top of the screen.

Distance Learning

It has been wonderful to see the variety of learning taking place this week both at home and in school. Many children have accessed the online lessons whilst also exploring their own learning interests too. We are loving how creative you all are!

Please remember, the learning opportunities are there for you to do but as always family time is vitally important.

Just remember, every experience is a learning one!

#StreetSmiles

Veolia is delighted to announce the launch of our #StreetSmiles campaign which encourages residents to support key workers collecting our waste and recycling, by spreading #StreetSmiles.

Why not take part by creating a 'smiling sun' and displaying it in your windows; ready to brighten the refuse workers’ day?

Any pictures can also be shared online via our social media pages. All you need to do is take a photo of your artwork and share to your social media page, making sure to use the hashtag #StreetSmiles. All posts are relayed back to our hardworking collection crews and street teams and regularly brighten our team’s days!

School Nursing Team Update

We are currently operating a Duty Call line which is monitored daily by a School Nurse for all parents / carers / young people in the borough. The contact number for this is: 020 8770 5409.

Within the next week the school nursing team hope to be starting an Instagram page which will be updated regularly with public health information and health updates for young people. This will be managed by Public Health Sutton. We are currently looking into the possibility of a Q and A page within instagram for young people to interact directly with us. This site will also offer signposting to available resources and local / national services.

Well being

Why not try yoga bingo with the whole family?

Why not choose a different letter each day and try to do what it says?
