We would like to be active citizens and we need your help!

As we enter a second lock down, the children would like to help people in the community to feel less isolated.

If you know of someone (a neighbour or relative for example) who lives alone or will have to shield for the next month, please email their name and address to the school office so that our active citizens can send them something to brighten their day.

Thank you for your help during these difficult times.

Road closure

We desperately need volunteers to help us with the road closures. Please let the office know if you can help even if it is only for a short period time.

Parking

We understand that parking can be challenging at times however please can we be considerate to our neighbours. Also can we request that you not park over our neighbours drives as this can be dangerous for children who are walking to and from school. Thank you for your continued support.

Sutton Community Food Shop

A new community food shop has opened in the St Nicholas Shopping Centre in Sutton High Street which the SHP Repairs Team helped to set up.

The shop, run by Sutton Community Works, will help support families and individuals in the borough who struggle on a low income to select much-needed food and drink items for the cost of their weekly membership.

Membership costs £3 a week by direct debit and allows people to choose up to 12 items of non-perishable, chilled and frozen items. Food can be picked up every week on Thursday and Friday mornings from 10am-12.30pm, starting from Thursday 12 November.

Free School Meals / Pupil Premium

Please see attached information about applying for Free School Meal Funding which attracts Pupil Premium. Pupil Premium is additional funding given to schools by the central government. The London Borough of Sutton website (link below) will give you all of the information regarding eligibility to claim this extra funding for the school. You can either apply via the London Borough of Sutton link or alternatively fill out the google form and we are more than happy to help you to do this.

School Fund - Reminder

Due to our creative curriculum in school the children have a chance to cook with their classes, have a ‘Making Day’ where they make lots of exciting Christmas crafts, take part in World Book Day and celebrate different festivals, as well as enjoy theatre workshops to enrich the curriculum. In the past we have asked for a voluntary donation for each of these events - this year however we have decided to ask for just one donation for the whole school year.

Therefore we are writing to you to ask for a voluntary contribution of £15 per child or £10 per child if you have siblings in either of our Academies this will enable us to purchase the resources/ingredients for our exciting creative curriculum. If you have already contributed thank you.

This donation will also cover the costs of the children’s Christmas Parties.

You may pay by debit or credit card via your Arbor account. Please log into Arbor and choose the payment section and select School Fund 2020-2021.

School Wear Inc

The shop will be closed during lockdown, but orders can be made online and you can arrange delivery.

Opportunity

Sutton Dyslexia Association

Sadly the Sutton Dyslexia Association have to postpone the Parent/Carer Pop in Oaks Park cafe on 9th November because of the new Covid regulations. The help line is still operating [07948 702491 ] or email helpline@suttondyslexia.org.uk

If your child uses TikTok, we would suggest you watch Monday's Panorama on BBC 1. It highlighted the dangers of using the app. It is important you are aware of how it works and what children are able to see.
