Cheam Common Infants' Weekly Newsletter

Welcome to our weekly newsletter!
Another busy half term comes to an end and what a term it has been. We started the term with the Ofsted inspection and we hope to share the report very soon! We are extremely proud of the Year 2 children completing their end of key stage one assessments. We also had Tom Reptlies visit Year 1, Year 2 children performed their Big Sing songs and Nursery visited the local supermarket to collect ingredients. This week we have been celebrating the Queen's Jubilee. We are looking forward to welcoming the children back on Tuesday 7th June.
I would also personally like to thank everyone who has shared their well wishes about my news. I am excited for the new opportunity but I will miss Cheam Common Infants'. I look forward to hearing all the news when I return. Luckily I still have one more term and we have lots of exciting learning opportunities planned. I hope you all have a well deserved break.
Miss Thorndycraft

Walk to School Week
The winning class for Walk to school week was Robins. Here is Adam proudly modelling his t-shirt and holding the trophy.
SENSO cloud
As part of our commitment to the safeguarding of all children, LEO Academy Trust have purchased an advanced online monitoring system called SENSO cloud. This will monitor anything that the children access on their chromebook, at school and at home.
SENSO will pick up any words, images, content of a website or chat messages that may be of concern while they are logged into their Chromebook or while they are on a personal device logged in with their LEO account.
The DSL (Designated Safeguarding Lead) of Cheam Common Infants will then be notified of new possible concerns along with a picture of what a child is looking at with the date and time.
Please note that the school will be checking these alerts between 9.00am - 3.30 pm Monday to Friday only. Out of these times, while the children are at home, we would expect parents/carers to oversee the use of the chromebooks.
The monitoring programme will still run throughout the weekend, so any concerns will be picked on a Monday. Any concerns would of course be discussed with parents where appropriate.
If you have any queries or questions please do not hesitate to contact myself via the office.
Marsden March
Last week a group of CCI staff and their families took part in the 15 mile Marsden March. We all managed to complete the walk in 5 hours. If you would like to donate, please click on this link.
Jubilee Celebrations
This week the School Council looked at all the entries and chose the winning cake design. The winner was Rose in Nursery. The Catering team made the cake and we shared the cake with the children on Wednesday. We are looking forward to eating the cake today!
This week we had an exciting opportunity to make the Queen a birthday card and the card is going to be delivered to her this week. Each class had a page in the card and each child had an opportunity to draw the Queen within a stamp and write their name. We hope she likes it!
On Wednesday we had our own Jubilee party in the playground. All classes ate their lunch together and they performed songs to each other. The children made their own crowns. They were also given a flag to wave and at the end of the day they were given a Jubilee badge from Friends. It was so lovely to have all the children together and they all really enjoyed it. Please look on Seesaw or Google classroom to see more photos.
