Welcome to our weekly newsletter!

Welcome back

Welcome back to the Summer Term. We hope you have had a good break and are ready for a new term! We are really pleased to be back and we have planned lots of exciting lessons over the term. We are also pleased to have after school clubs starting again.

Don't forget to check Twitter during the week to see what is happening in school!

Water bottles

As the weather is changing, it is vital all children bring a water bottle into school. Please remember that children should only have water in their bottles not juice.

P.E. kits

It has been great to see our classes enjoying their P.E. lessons this week and thank you to all those parents/carers who have sent the children’s P.E. kits back to school already.

For indoor P.E. children need:

a pair of red shorts,

a white t-shirt

For outdoor P.E. children need:

plimsolls/trainers (Velcro please unless your child can tie their own laces)

A pair of jogging bottoms or leggings (black)

A sweatshirt (no hoodies please)

Please make sure that all items are fully named.

In the interests of safety, please ensure that long hair is tied back and that all jewellery is removed on P.E. days. Earrings should ideally be removed but if this is not possible then parents must tape over earrings before sending their child to school.

T- shirts and draw-string bags, with the school logo on, are available if you wish to purchase them.

P.E. kits will stay in school and be returned home for washing at the end of each half term. If, for any reason, your child’s P.E. kit comes home, please return it as soon as possible. Please contact your class teacher if you are unsure of the P.E. days for your child’s class.

Sir Captain Tom's Sponsored Event

Pupils from across Sutton have been working to make a tremendous positive impact on their communities throughout the challenges that 2020 and 2021 have brought. Together they have previously raised over ÂŁ28,000 for local charities through various fundraising events. Many of the children wanted to thank their local hospitals, for their tireless work during the pandemic and were inspired by Captain Sir Tom Moore.

On Friday 30th April, what would have been Captain Sir Tom Moore’s 101 birthday, all children at CCI will take part in a sponsored physical activity involving the number 100! From Nursery to Year 2 we will all be dancing for 100 seconds to mark the event!

Money raised will go to a variety of local NHS charities that support health and wellbeing initiatives for hardworking staff as well as funding vital equipment in both St Heliers hospital as well as at Epsom Hospital. A Just Giving Page has been set up and it would be if you are able to support this event, even if it is a donation of ÂŁ2 as an entrance fee. Walk to School Week - Monday 17th May - Friday 21st May

For this week, children are encouraged to walk to school as many times as possible. This could mean walking from home or parking further away from the school and walking the rest of the way. Any child who walks to school everyday receives a badge.

To start the week, we would like all children to walk to school in trainers on Monday 17th May. To end the week, the children are allowed to come to school on Friday 21st May in mufti. Watch out for our extra special badge competition to run alongside Walk to School Week!
