This week we have continued to welcome our new Nursery and Reception children. They have loved exploring their classrooms and staying for lunch!

Our Forest School sessions have started for some of our Year 1 and Year 2 classes as well as after school clubs.

Introducing our Pupil Voice Groups for 2022-2023

Our year one and two children learnt about democracy while choosing their pupil voice representatives.

Pupils who wanted to be chosen for a role had to state why they thought they would be a good choice. The class then all voted who they thought would be best.

Cloud Champions will be chosen after half term.

Year 1 have been practising writing their numbers. Well done Lester who wrote his numbers to 22!

What's been happening this week

Kestrels have been learning all about place value and the value of digits in two and three digit numbers.

This week Sparrows have been learning to use the Chromebooks.

Our Ducklings, Fawns, Cygnets and Rabbits have had a wonderful time settling into our nursery this week. They have enjoyed exploring the different areas - making a splash in the water play, making friends in the 'home' area and showing off their mark making skills!

Reducing the use of physical chastisement in Sutton

There are many different views about physical chastisement, but it is widely accepted there are much more effective ways to teach children right from wrong.

As a local authority, Sutton has seen a number of children coming to the attention of police and social care due to the use of physical chastisement and as such has worked with other local authorities on an initiative to reduce this number.

In line with this initiative, we agree that anything that causes harm to a child is unacceptable.

As a school we have a duty to report incidents of suspected or confirmed physical chastisement to social care and the police which leaves visible bruising, grazes, scratches, minor swelling, cuts as well as stress injuries from prolonged standing, position holding as these are banned by law in the United Kingdom.

If you would like support on how to manage your child’s behaviour at home, please do not hesitate to contact us.
