Last week we had a Challenge Partners review and four senior leaders from across the UK visited our school for 3 days. Challenge Partners work with schools across the country, sharing excellent practice, facilitating peer review and running programmes grounded in evidence of what works, so that all pupils can benefit from the combined wisdom of the system, and of other sectors. We discuss and work together with the reviewers. They visited classrooms, spoke to the children and spoke to a range of adults in our school.

The reviewers commented on how leaders have continued to enhance the nurture provision. The school are working with external providers, for example, to enhance emotional literacy support to additional adults as a way of building capacity amongst school staff. This is having a positive impact in terms of pupils’ behaviour as well as an enhanced engagement with parents and carers so that they feel part of the school community. They also commented on the children’s attitudes towards learning in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and in Key Stage 1 is exemplary. They conduct themselves impeccably both in class and around the school and are eager to share their learning with visitors. The school rightly prides itself on providing an extensive range of in and out of class learning experiences that give all pupils the opportunity to develop their skills and interests in academic, sporting and cultural activities. This is in line with the school’s vision statement of ‘Learning, Excellence, Opportunity’. The curriculum is exciting, engaging and bespoke. Teachers make good use of a wide range of artefacts to capture pupil’s imagination and interest. Subject leaders spoke enthusiastically of how they enhance the curriculum. Be Ready to Learn Bee

Each week the School Councillors and class teachers nominate their class with a reason explaining how their class has shown that they are ready to learn and why they think they should receive the weekly reward.

This week congratulations go to

Wrens showed they were ready to learn using maths resources. All children can use a ruler.

Kestrels showed they were ready to learn by working hard and sitting well with their chairs on the floor.
