TOMORROW: Sutton United vs Oldham Athletic
As part of Sutton United’s efforts to stay connected with the community, they have reached out to invite Cheam Common Infants and Juniors to join their latest initiative “Team Up For Tickets”.
This initiative gives Friends the chance to sell tickets to a home game and receive back 50% of the value of tickets sold (excl. VAT). Whether you love football or simply fancy a family day out, supporting a local team, this could be the event for you! Tickets for children are free, hopefully encouraging even more of our families to make the most of a great day out!
Our school’s dedicated fixture is:
Sutton United v Oldham Town on Saturday 19th October 2024 (3pm)
Tickets can be bought here.
We hope this will offer many of you a fantastic day out whilst raising money for our school!
Tuesday 5th November

Kestrels and Owls: 10:45-11:35am
If you are free to volunteer, please email the school office.
Monday 18th November
Next half term for our history learning, the children will be learning all about the world of toys and the role that they play in entertaining us, educating us, and stimulating our imagination. As historians, they will be finding out about the ways in which toys have changed over time. To enhance their learning, we would like the children to participate in an interactive Victorian drama workshop.
After learning some well-known Victorian parlour games, the children will have the opportunity to handle and examine a large selection of wooden, tin and cloth replica toys, to discover how they work and how they are made. Thus bringing their learning to life!
The cost of this workshop is £4.50 per child. We would be grateful if you could make this payment via your Arbor account by 4th November, under the trip section.
LEO Academy Trust is incredibly proud to work in partnership with the National Institute of Teaching as an Associate College to deliver Initial Teacher Training, (ITT) Early Career Framework (ECF) and National Professional Qualifications (NPQs) from September 2025. Associate Colleges are successful school trusts, selected because of their wealth of in-house expertise in professional development and their deep relationships in their local areas. This collaboration allows us to be at the forefront of educational excellence, providing local teachers with unparalleled opportunities for professional growth, learning and development. Together, we are shaping the future of teaching and learning, ensuring that every child receives the highest quality education.
Applications for our primary ITT courses are now open for September 2025! Our initial teacher training is a fully immersive school-centred programme - aspiring teachers will be in the classroom from the very start. But full immersion does not mean that you will be thrown in the deep end: our trainees are mentored and have central training once a week.
To apply for a place on our ITT programme please click here.
This is a friendly reminder that Cheam Common Infants' is a nut-free school. This policy is in place to protect children with severe nut allergies, which can cause life-threatening reactions.
Please do not send any food items containing nuts to school with your child. This includes, but is not limited to:
All types of nuts: peanuts, almonds, walnuts, cashews, pecans, Brazil nuts, hazelnuts, pistachios, macadamia nuts
Monkey nuts
Chocolate spread (e.g., Nutella, which often contains hazelnuts)
Chocolate filled crepes (e.g., Sainsburys own as these contain hazelnut filling)
Peanut butter
Baked goods that contain nuts or nut flour
Snacks and cereals that may contain nuts or have "may contain" warnings
Even trace amounts of nuts can trigger a severe allergic reaction in some children. We appreciate your cooperation in keeping our school a safe environment for all students.
Please ensure that your child's belongings are clearly labelled, especially water bottles, coats and jumpers. Our lost property box is already overflowing with items of clothing that are not named.
Now that the new school year is underway, we would like to remind you of our school attendance and punctuality expectations and procedures.
As many of you will be aware, there have been significant changes to the statutory attendance guidance, these changes came into effect on 19th August 2024. Our Attendance Policy has been revised to reflect these changes. Please click below for the updated policy.
The changes aim to improve school attendance and ensure that all students receive the education they deserve.
Nursery have been looking for signs of Autumn this week! They played outside with the Autumn leaves and they created pictures of a tree in Autumn using scrunched up tinfoil to create leaf shapes.
Reception have been reading Hello Friend and learning about how to be good friends. We have also been looking at signs of Autumn and counting objects to 10. We have been practising the stem sentences 1 and another 1 makes 2 and also 1 and 1 and 1 makes 3.
The children have all worked really hard this week. We were very proud of their wonderful Missing posters, helping the bear to find his hat. In Maths the children enjoyed learning the name of the digits 0-5. They have been partitioning numbers 0-5 systematically and have been learning to double! In Geography the children have thought about jobs people do in their local area and wrote simple sentences. In science they have been learning about signs of Autumn please can the children bring in autumn objects for the children to explore in the outside area eg conkers, pine cones, acorns, etc.
This week, we have been learning about Black History Month and some significant past and present figures in this movement.
In Financial Literacy, we have been learning about the different ways that children and adults can get money, and have shared our aspirations about the jobs we would love when we are older!
Polite reminder...
As you know, we are a healthy school and therefore ask if your child would like to celebrate their birthday, they donate a book to a library instead of bringing treats. This also ensures there are no concerns over allergies.
