I have been very proud of all of the children at CCI who have supported Year 6 with their SATS this week. We have had to change playgrounds and break times to ensure that we haven't disturbed the Year 6 children and I have been very impressed with how flexible and adaptable the children have been. It hardly seems like yesterday that they were at the infant school and some of them in my Year 1 class and now they are almost at the end of their primary school journey. How time flies! We are fast approaching our last half term of this academic year and are starting to think about transition for next year, to ensure that this process is as smooth as possible for all of our children, more information about this will be following shortly. Informative "Welcome meetings" are already in place for parents of children new to Nursery, Reception, and Year 3 we are now planning to add dedicated transition meetings for parents of students moving into Year 1 and Year 2, aiming to further support their children's educational journey. Dates are to be confirmed but we will get them to you as soon as possible.
Last Tuesday, a representative from the NFER (National Foundation for Educational Research https://www.nfer.ac.uk/) visited our Nursery classes to see NELI Pre School in action. NELI Preschool is a nursery-delivered oral language enrichment and intervention programme for children aged 3-4 years old. (https://oxedandassessment.com/uk/neli-preschool/) The impact that introducing this programme to our curriculum has had has been phenomenal in helping children to develop their communication and language skills and we have been chosen to be a case study to evidence its success. Well done to all the Nursery team who constantly strive to provide the best possible opportunities for our children as they start their educational journey at CCI.
We are incredibly proud to share that Mrs Cheryl Shirley, LEO's Director of Digital Learning, has been appointed to the Department for Education’s Digital, AI & Technology Task and Finish Group. This group brings together experts from across the sector to advise the government on how to best prepare children and young people for the jobs of the future. Mrs Shirley will be sharing insights and innovative practice from across LEO Academy Trust, helping to shape how AI can enhance teaching, learning, and future readiness in education. The Digital, AI and Technology Task and Finish Group chaired by Sir Kevan Collins, non-executive board member at the DfE, will provide expert recommendations to the department and insights for the Curriculum and Assessment Review. Mrs Hughes
To enhance parental awareness of our school's activities and empower parents to better support their children's education, we propose introducing a series of informative workshops. These workshops will aim to provide insights into our teaching methodologies, curriculum content and available resources. By equipping parents with this knowledge, we hope to foster a stronger partnership between home and school, ultimately benefiting student learning and development. From the survey, we have identified that the areas that the first of these workshops will cover are, phonics, transition and the use of Seesaw and technology in the classroom.

Reception places are filling up!
We have less than 5 places left, if you have any friends or family moving to the area or who need a place for September, please let them know! Our admissions team led by Mrs Meaney will be able to advise and provide all necessary information to anyone interested.
If your child has grapes as a snack, could you ensure that these are cut into halves or quarters so that your child is able to eat them safely.
There is a huge amount of lost property at the moment. This will be displayed in the playground at pick up and drop off when the weather is good enough. Please ensure children's uniforms are named. We cannot guarantee that unnamed items will find their way back to you but we do regularly go through our lost property cupboard and return named items to their owners.
Click on the links below to read our curriculum newsletters. On these, you can find out the topics that your children will be learning about, as well as information about home learning, PE days and general reminders for their year group.
Here are the lunch options for next week.

Monday 2nd June: Chilli con carne will replace chickpea and lentil curry.
Nursery have been reading Supertato this week! They have made pictures of the main characters Supertato and Evil Pea! They also practised rescuing the veg from the Evil Pea!
Reception have continued to learn the story of Owl Babies. We have written story maps, thought bubbles for characters and wrote our own solution to the problem of the Mummy Owl going missing! We had lots of fun in Forest school as well.
What a busy and productive week it's been for our fantastic Year One pupils! We've been so impressed with their engagement and enthusiasm for learning. A particular highlight has been their wonderful writing recounting their recent trip to Hobbledown.
The children clearly have vivid memories of their visit, and it was a joy to see them so eager to share their experiences on paper. They focused on describing the animals they encountered, thoughtfully using adjectives to bring their descriptions to life. We are incredibly proud of the effort and it is their best piece of writing this year!
The children also loved creating their Flora and Fauna picture and took time drawing in detailing and then using water colours to really bring their pictures to life. In Maths, they are confidently now using and applying money using 1p, 2p, 5p and 10p coins.
Year 2 has been a hive of activity this week, blending creativity with discovery! In art, inspired by animal-shaped instruments, they collaboratively designed their own creature-themed musical inventions. Next week promises more hands-on fun as they bring these ideas to life with junk modelling.
In computing, our budding digital explorers embarked on a fascinating journey to understand the workings of the internet. They honed their research skills by investigating captivating animal facts using search engines.
Science saw our young investigators dissecting seeds, peering through magnifying glasses to uncover their hidden structures – the seed coat, food store, and the beginnings of new life. Meanwhile, our plant experiment continues to yield intriguing results: the beans with all the right conditions are thriving, while the one kept in darkness tells a different story with its long, pale shoot. Stay tuned for next week's growth update!
Finally, a huge well done to Year 2 for their incredible effort and resilience during their SATS this week. We are immensely proud of their hard work!
Polite reminder...
As you know, we are a healthy school and therefore ask if your child would like to celebrate their birthday, they donate a book to a library instead of bringing treats. This also ensures there are no concerns over allergies.
