We are looking for any creative parents and families with building skills!
We would absolutely love to be able to provide our new Reception 'Forest School', and outside continuous provision areas with a Messy Kitchen! We know that these can be built using old pallets and were wondering whether there were any parents who would be able to help with this. This would also save thousands of pounds!
Please contact the school office if you feel that this is something that you could help with. Any help would be beyond appreciated!
As the weather starts to improve, we are turning our attention to the EYFS forest area. We would be very grateful for any donations of unwanted stepping stones, logs or plants that could enhance this space for our children!
If you have any donations, these would be welcomed at the school office or to class teachers.
Click on the links below to read our curriculum newsletters. On these, you can find out the topics that your children will be learning about, as well as information about home learning, PE days and general reminders for their year group.
If your child has grapes as a snack, could you ensure that these are cut into halves or quarters so that your child is able to eat them safely.
There is a huge amount of lost property at the moment. This will be displayed in the playground at pick up and drop off when the weather is good enough. Please ensure children's uniforms are named.
Friday 21st March
This year Red Nose Day is on Friday 21st March and, as a school, we would like to raise some money for this great cause as well as the children having lots of fun!
This year’s theme is ‘Do Something Funny For Money’, we are asking all children to come to school with ‘Crazy Hair’. We are asking for a donation, with the suggested amount being £1, which will be collected at the gate as the children come into school. Please see below some examples of ‘crazy hair’ ideas…
We hope that the children enjoy the day and hopefully, we as a school, can raise some money for Comic Relief. As always, thank you for your continued support. We look forward to seeing your crazy hairstyles!
Mrs Hughes
We want to learn more about how we can help your school and LEO Academy Trust to improve parental engagement, so your time and honesty are much appreciated! This survey will ask questions about the communication between carers and school, confidence in the school’s strategy and other aspects.
If you would like to complete the survey, you can do so here.
Thank you for your time!
With over 40 entries, judging this year's Book in a Jar competition was extremely tough. Please see our winning entries here! Thank you to all of the families who entered - your creativity and enthusiasm was so appreciated!

Eat Them to Defeat Them
This campaign to encourage children to eat more vegetables is coming into its seventh year. Involvement in this campaign has been proved to lead to increased vegetable consumption over the long term and with 29% of children eating less that one portion of vegetables a day it is important that we make every attempt to improve our children's diets. Look out for the daily vegetable that we will be encouraging your children to eat. Starting with carrots our catering team are adding a tasty and healthy carrot cake to the menu so your children can receive their 'eat them to defeat them sticker.'
In Nursery children have been learning about dinosaurs in their NELI lessons. Their special word was hatching and they created eggs with baby dinosaurs hatching inside! Nursery have also read Brown Bear, Brown Bear and have completed bear themed activities.
Reception have been learning about the emergency services. We learnt which number to ring in an emergency and how all of the different services help us. We also practised our maths stem sentences that we have used to learn number bonds eg: 5 and 3 more makes 8!
Year One have had a great week exploring non-fiction books this week. In English they have begun creating their own book about Tigers. They have written a contents page, introduction, labelled the parts of a tiger and have written facts about where they live and what they eat. The children have been very excited to complete the pages of their non-fiction book and are applying lots of their writing skills as they write facts about Tigers. In Maths, the children have been using their knowledge of doubles to 10, to halve numbers and find near doubles. We are very proud of them and how they are using their mental maths to solve simple equations ____+ 4 = 9 or 8 - ____ = 5. In science, the children have learnt about fish. They labelled a fish, its dorsil fin, tails, gills etc and they enjoyed learning about a fishes features. In computing the children were introduced to Marty the Robot and they loved beginning to code to make Marty move. What a busy week it has been!
This week, Year Two has embarked on a journey through art, technology, and the natural world! We began by replicating the distinctive brushstrokes of Van Gogh and Cezanne, experimenting with colour mixing to create our own masterpieces. Our budding engineers used Lego Spike to design and code cave cars, complete with programmable headlights that flashed and changed colour. Maths lessons transformed into bustling marketplaces as we set up classroom shops, practicing addition and calculating change. Our writing skills were put to the test as we crafted engaging narratives from the viewpoint of the Bala Mengro, incorporating ambitious vocabulary and figurative language. In Science, we delved into the fascinating adaptations of animals like polar bears and camels, understanding how they thrive in their specific environments. Finally, we broadened our global perspective in Geography, comparing continents and investigating the impact of the equator on climate.
Polite reminder...
As you know, we are a healthy school and therefore ask if your child would like to celebrate their birthday, they donate a book to a library instead of bringing treats. This also ensures there are no concerns over allergies.
Happy birthday! Thank you for your book donation.

Over Easter, our concrete basketball court is being re-covered in a safer, bouncier material. This is all down to the work that this group does. Thank you!
