We are incredibly proud to share our Challenge Partners with you. The Challenge Partners community is made up of school leaders from across the country, and we are invited to review another school every year.
We are incredibly proud to have received the Leading grade in all categories, which is the best grade available.
You can read the entire report on the left, or by following this link.
We are also proud to announce that Cheam Common Junior Academy also received a Leading grade. You can read their report here.
Friday 7th March
We are excited to announce the ‘Book in a Jar’ competition! This competition is a great way to show your love of books and creativity in conjunction with World Book Day.
To enter, simply choose a book that you love and create a representation of it in a jar. You can use any materials you like, such as paper, fabric, paint, or even clay. Be as creative as you can! You might even draw a jar!
Remember - this competition is completely optional!
All entries must be submitted to your child's class teacher by Friday 7th March. The winners will be announced in the Celebration Assembly on Friday 14th March . The winning entries will also be displayed in the library for all to see.
Here are some of 2023's winners!
Monday 3rd March
As part of our Science learning about the classification of animals, Year 1 children have an exciting opportunity to be visited by Tom’s Talking Reptiles.
This will be a hands on experience for children, and we hope to bring the photos that we have been showing them to life, enabling them to see for themselves some of these amazing creatures, many of which are now endangered.
We are very keen for this ‘experience’ to take place and therefore request the voluntary contribution of £4.50 per Y1 pupil to be paid via Arbor before Monday 24th February.
A reminder that children should not be bringing toys to school, unless they have been specifically agreed by their teacher. We understand that children are attached to their toys, but these can also cause arguments between friends, distractions in class, and could get lost.
Thank you for your continued support.
A massive thank you to the parents who attended our SEND Coffee Morning today.
We have managed to raise almost £450 for the NSPCC through our Number Day. Thank you for all of your support!
Sora: Together We Read
We’re thrilled to let you know that Sora will be offering our first ever UK Children’s ‘Together We Read’ programme from 17th February – 3rd March. The ebook and audiobook of ‘Montgomery Bonbon: Mystery at the Manor’ by Alasdair Beckett-King will both be freely available on Sora for simultaneous use.
Bonnie Montgomery (as her case-cracking alter-ego Montgomery Bonbon) has been tasked with delivering a priceless diamond to Adderstone Manor, the home of retired master thief Fergus Croke. The plot thickens faster than a good roux when Croke is found dead hours later, and every one of his four protégés is suspected of the dirty deed. But when everyone is a crook, how does even the great Bonbon know where to begin?
This is a friendly reminder that Cheam Common Infants' is a nut-free school. This policy is in place to protect children with severe nut allergies, which can cause life-threatening reactions.
Please do not send any food items containing nuts to school with your child. This includes, but is not limited to:
All types of nuts: peanuts, almonds, walnuts, cashews, pecans, Brazil nuts, hazelnuts, pistachios, macadamia nuts
Monkey nuts
Chocolate spread (e.g., Nutella, which often contains hazelnuts)
Chocolate filled crepes (e.g., Sainsburys own as these contain hazelnut filling)
Peanut butter
Baked goods that contain nuts or nut flour
Snacks and cereals that may contain nuts or have "may contain" warnings
Even trace amounts of nuts can trigger a severe allergic reaction in some children. We appreciate your cooperation in keeping our school a safe environment for all students.
Nursery have been reading the story of Titch. Titch is the smallest and youngest in his family. However, when he plants a mystery seed, we have found out that sometimes the biggest things start off very small! They have also been drawing self-portraits!
Reception have continued learning about dinosaurs this week. A particular highlight was learning how to be palaeontologists, and excavating dinosaur remains in our sand pits! We have also enjoyed making seed bombs to help feed the birds at our new Forest School.
Year One have had a great final week of learning before half term. In English they have enjoyed writing instructions on how to plant a tree and have effectively used time adverbials like first, next, after that. In Maths the children have been learning about the difference of 1. They have been amazing at finding adding 2 and subtracting 2 to even and odd numbers, using number lines. The children have been completing lots of assessments for the wider curriculum and we are very impressed by their knowledge and recall of what they have learnt this half term. Year One loved the ‘Perform’ drama workshop, they had so much moving, acting and rapping about under the sea animals. We hope you have a lovely half term and please practise both spelling and reading of the common exception words.
Year 2 students explored the fascinating history of transportation at Brooklands Museum this week. They examined incredible artifacts, discovering how technological advancements have shaped the evolution of travel over time.
In the aircraft workshop, pupils explored how the specific properties of different materials are crucial for constructing the various components of early airplanes. The aircraft workshop connected pupils with the history of early aviation, offering hands-on exploration of materials and engagement with primary sources, including accounts from those who built the first flying machines.
The children were highly engaged at the bus museum, searching for familiar place names on the destination boards of early buses and exploring how bus designs have evolved. They loved climbing aboard the double deckers, honking the horn and taking turns at driving in the bus simulator.
The motor village buzzed with excitement as visitors debated which early racing car they'd most like to take for a spin! The distinct smell of engine oil transported us back in time, enhancing this already wonderful day of learning.
Many thanks to the parents who gave up their time to support us with this trip. It would not have been possible without your help.
On our return the children enjoyed recollecting their favourite moments of the day in beautifully written recounts. What a super end to all of your hard work this term, Year 2. Your teachers are so proud of the amazing progress you are making. We would like to wish you and your families a wonderful half term holiday!
Polite reminder...
As you know, we are a healthy school and therefore ask if your child would like to celebrate their birthday, they donate a book to a library instead of bringing treats. This also ensures there are no concerns over allergies.
Happy birthday! Thank you for your book donation.

If you would like to share your child's achievements outside of school with us, we'd love to hear them! Please complete this short form to tell us all about it!
Alice received the Award for Trustworthiness from her Scouts group leader during the last 4th Worcester Park scouts session.
What an amazing achievement. Well done, Alice!
Jacob was the very first to receive a brand new award in his Beavers group for Friendship. His leaders noted how he is always so kind, caring and considerate to everyone around him.
To us this is such a wonderful achievement, as kindness is one of the most important strengths a person can have. We are so very proud of him!
Tilda wanted to do a litter pick on the weekend as she noticed a lot of rubbish on her way to school recently. So she walked up and down all of Braemar Road and picked up litter. She collected a LOT of rubbish including a shoe!
What a kind thing to do. Thank you, Tilda!
