Updates
On Tuesday 25th April, our Key Stage 1 choir went to St Andrew's Church to perform with choirs from other local schools at Sutton Music Services' Key Stage 1 Big Sing. The theme of the concert was 'Coronation'.
All the children performed brilliantly.
Thank you Miss Shaw for all your hard work and dedication to ensure the children delivered a polished performance and Mrs Perschky for her organisational skills.
Walk to school week is back!
In order to help reduce congestion and pollution at the school gates, we would like as many pupils as possible to walk, wheel, cycle or scoot to school for the five days from the 15th to 19th May.
When children walk to school they arrive refreshed and ready to learn, while being well on their way to meeting the recommended 60 minutes of physical activity a day.
We want our classes to work together to make as many active journeys as possible. We will track their progress each day on the fun and interactive classroom wall chart, providing daily stickers and an end of week reward for those who take part!
Each day, the Walk with Wildlife challenge will teach pupils about how walking, cycling or scooting to school rather than driving (where possible) is sustainable, and improves health, mental health and friendships.
This week's learning
Nursery
This week our Nursery children have been looking at the life cycle of butterflies after reading the book 'The hungry caterpillar'. Super work!
Reception
This week as mathematicians, Reception have been using ten frames. Their story this week was Owl Babies and they have been using their creative skills and strengthening their fine motor skills by creating their own owls as well as describing the sounds birds and animals make in writing. They have also been learning about nocturnal animals. Super work!
They have also been making magic potions in the outside area. What a busy week!
Year 1
In PE this week, Year 1 have been practising passing the ball to each other.
As scientists, Year 1 explored seeds and bulbs within the school environment. They also had a go at identifying and naming them.
After reading the book, 'The Wild', they have also been completing some fantastic writing.
Super Work!
Year 2
As mathematicians, Year 2 have been practising their multiplication facts.
In PSHE, Year 2 discussed touches they like and touches they dislike. They had to trace a letter onto their friends hands.
Home learning
Thank you to Annabel who donated Tyrannosaurus Drip to her class library to celebrate her birthday.
Thank you also to Ayana who donated books to Owls' class library to celebrate her birthday.
If your child has completed some learning at home, please get them to bring it in so we can share and celebrate it.
Our daily sustainable focus
Mindful Monday
Thinking about the impact of our actions (meat free meals, turning off lights, screens, being careful to recycle properly).
Tidy up Tuesday
Collecting rubbish from around the school to protect our local environment and wildlife.
Walk to school Wednesday
Reduce our carbon footprint and improve the air quality in our local community.
Thrifty Thursday
Helping the local community to reduce, reuse and recycle by donating items to school that you no longer require.
Feel good Friday
The Eco Squad reflect and feedback to their classes on the positive impact we have made during the week including counting crisp packets - there will be a prize for the best class at the end of each term. They will also relay positive stories about how scientists are coming up with solutions to our sustainability problems around the world.
Feel good Friday
The Eco Squad have been counting crisp packets again.
Thank you for helping us to recycle
609
crisp packets!

We would prefer children NOT to wear earrings to school.
Earrings are NOT permitted for PE or after school sports activities. If your child can not remove their earring, please apply tape over their stud earrings.
On other days a maximum of one pair of small plain studs is permitted. No hoops or large studs and no dangly earrings please.
No other jewellery should be worn.
In addition, nail varnish is not to be worn to school and long hair must be tied back at all times.

Birthdays
As a healthy school we ask if your child would like to celebrate their birthday, they donate a book to the library instead of bringing treats for the class. The book will help us to grow our library and ensure we are promoting healthy eaters.

Keeping children safe
Please click here to access a document with guidance on how to keep your child safe when choosing a club tutor or coach for them.
We have been informed by the local police that there has been a rise in outer clothing and mobile phones being taken from individuals, predominantly from Secondary School age.
As a preventative measure, we wanted to make you aware of this for your child/children with regards to the wearing of high-value outer clothing and displaying their mobile phones when out in the community.
If you have moved address, it is imperative that you inform the school office as soon as you have moved. It is a requirement that the school has up to date details particularly in case of an emergency.
Please email the school office ccioffice@leoacademytrust.co.uk if your details need updating. Alternatively you can update them using the Arbor App.
