Book Swap

Our book swap books are all ready on our book shelf ready to be shared and then returned or exchanged.

Nursery Learning!

What a busy week it has been in Nursery. They have been learning about the number 4, constructing and creating lots of lovely artwork.

Great job!

They also had lots of fun celebrating Winnie the Pooh day by drawing Winnie the Pooh Characters, sharing Winnie the Pooh stories and having a tea party with some of the characters.

Our Reception children have also celebrated Winnie the Pooh day this week. They looked at things they do to be kind, made fingerprint bees as well as had a celebratory picnic.

Ahoy me hearties!

This week in Reception, the children found a pirate's treasure chest. They then practised their cutting skills by making pirate boats. They also pretended to be pirates and wrote sentences describing what they found in the chest.

Year 1

Fabulous forecasters!

Year 1 have been looking at the weather this week and combining this with their map skills to deliver weather forecasts.

They have also been rubbing different textures in art.

Great work.

Year 2

Amazing Axels

This week in Design Technology, Year 2 have been learning about axels.

Brilliant Binca

Well done to Thomas who has made his own Binca bookmark at home after being inspired by his Design & Technology lessons last term.

Super sewing skills!

Our daily sustainable focus

Mindful Monday

Thinking about the impact of our actions (meat free meals, turning off lights, screens, being careful to recycle properly).

Tidy up Tuesday

Collecting rubbish from around the school to protect our local environment and wildlife.

Walk to school Wednesday

Reduce our carbon footprint and improve the air quality in our local community.

Thrifty Thursday

Helping the local community to reduce, reuse and recycle by donating items to school that you no longer require.

Feel good Friday

The Eco Squad reflect and feedback to their classes on the positive impact we have made during the week including counting crisp packets - there will be a prize for the best class at the end of each term. They will also relay positive stories about how scientists are coming up with solutions to our sustainability problems around the world.

Feel good Friday

The Eco Squad have been working hard to clear up some of our outside areas. They have collected rubbish and swept up leaves.

Next week we will start planning our Forest School project to increase biodiversity at CCI.

Please remember....

If you have any outgrown wellies please donate them to the school.

Many thanks for all of your recent donations, we love reusing your unwanted items!

For sickness and same day medical appointments: Cheam Common Infants' Absence Form

For future appointments and exceptional absences: Request for Exceptional Absence form

Birthdays

As a healthy school we ask if your child would like to celebrate their birthday, they donate a book to the library instead of bringing treats for the class. The book will help us to grow our library and ensure we are promoting healthy eaters.

We will display a photo of your child with their book in the library.

Keeping children safe

Please click here to access a document with guidance on how to keep your child safe when choosing a club tutor or coach for them.

We have been informed by the local police that there has been a rise in outer clothing and mobile phones being taken from individuals, predominantly from Secondary School age.

As a preventative measure, we wanted to make you aware of this for your child/children with regards to the wearing of high-value outer clothing and displaying their mobile phones when out in the community.

If you have moved address, it is imperative that you inform the school office as soon as you have moved. It is a requirement that the school has up to date details particularly in case of an emergency.

Please email the school office ccioffice@leoacademytrust.co.uk if your details need updating. Alternatively you can update them using the Arbor App.

WARM WEDNESDAYS

This winter will be a difficult time for many families and households as, despite the government’s energy cap, they struggle to afford energy bills and cope with the rising cost of food. Churches in Epsom & Ewell, working in partnership with Surrey County Council, are committed to showing God’s love in action. The churches across the borough are aiming to provide a network of spaces where people can go and be warm and enjoy hot food and drinks on different days. As its contribution to this initiative Epsom Methodist Church is supporting a ‘Warm Wednesdays' initiative from November to February

During Warm Wednesdays we’ll also be providing opportunities for people to drop in and talk to advisers about energy saving, accessing grants and benefits and managing family finances.
