Welcome to our weekly newsletter!

It has been brought to our attention that not all the class whatsapps are being used appropriately. We would strongly advise you that the purpose of class whatsapp is to share communication between the Friends Association and yourselves including reminders about upcoming events in school. There should be no personal information or incidents that have happened in school discussed on this platform as this platform is not secure. Written messages can often lend themselves to misinterpretation and can cause unnecessary anxiety and aggravate an already sensitive issue. Photos should not be shared either as this could lead to a safeguarding matter as images can be easily shared or saved. Also, some families have not given permission for their child's photo to be taken or used.

As a school we promote positive relationships with our school community and should an incident arise, the school will deal with this and contact the parents of those involved. We would strongly advise parents do not make direct contact with other parents regarding specific incidents as the incident has to be investigated thoroughly and fairly so that the correct information can be shared. We have many ways to communicate with each other. If you have a concern about your child, you should speak to or email the class teacher immediately. The class teacher will then investigate and give you feedback on the outcome. If the concern continues, then the class teacher will refer the matter onto the year leader. If the concern becomes more serious then the Vice Principals will become involved and liaise with myself. A decision would then be made whether or not the incident needs to be escalated further.

Science Poster Competition

Calling all budding artists!

The Royal Academy of Arts have launched their annual art competition. Children from the age of 4 can submit one piece of art work. The pieces should be named and include the title of the piece, medium used (what was used to create the piece i.e., pencil, charcoal, acrylic paint) and a short description.

Artworks can be made of any materials; anything from a painting, sculpture, photograph, installation or video piece. There is no theme so artworks can be of any subject. It must be original artwork and not a copy of another piece.

The artwork will need to be handed to Miss Grimstone by Monday 28th March so she can submit the pieces.

All pieces will be judged by a panel of artist and art professionals. This will be judged in two categories primary and secondary. Winning entries will be advised by the end of May and displayed at the exhibition at the Royal Academy.

Good Luck!
