What a wonderful week it has been! Our Year One and Year Two children exceeded all expectations with their spectacular Christmas performances at Christ Church St Philips, scoring an 'unachievable' 20 out of 10. Having seen many nativity performances over the years, this one was particularly memorable. Huge thank yous go to Miss Beach for her vision and Mrs MP and all the staff for helping to make the vision a reality.
Thursday and Friday were filled with fun and crafts. Thank you to the Friends for providing all the children with a celebratory 'party snack'. We would also like to extend a huge thank you to the Friends and the wider community for purchasing our new sensory panels, which Mr Chalke will be installing in the playground over the holiday break. In addition, they have purchased new obstacle course blocks for our front playground and a new stage. We can’t wait to show you more performances on this in our school hall. We are truly blessed to have such a supportive community.
As we reach the end of the first term of the academic year, I enjoy taking the opportunity to reflect on how well the children are thriving here at Cheam Common Infants. As I show prospective parents around the school, I receive so many positive comments about how happy and engaged the children are in their learning. We are also incredibly lucky to have had our Early Years classrooms refurbished. The natural feel creates a calm and nurturing environment for all the children. It is a privilege to be the Principal of such a special place.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank Miss Kelly for all her hard work and support in her role as Vice Principal at Cheam Common Infants, and I wish her all the very best in her new role as Interim Principal at CCJ. I look forward to working in partnership with her next year. Exciting times are ahead as we welcome Mr Raney to the Senior Leadership Team. I anticipate even bigger and better things in 2026!

This week we enjoyed reading winter and Christmas-themed stories, singing cheerful Christmas songs, and creating beautiful winter inspired artwork. The children also loved experimenting with melting ice using pipettes and warm water, exploring science through play. We wrapped up the season with a joyful Christmas party full of smiles and celebration. We would like to wish all our families a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Reception
This week we finished reading Stickman and discussed the different settings in the story. We all had different favourites! We used the idea of Stickman’s Family Tree to draw and write the members of our own family tree. We’ve also enjoyed lots of Christmas themed crafts and have been busy making some special things to bring home! We would like to wish you all a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! We hope you all have a wonderful break.
Happy Christmas, Year One parents! We hope you all have a wonderful time over the festive break.
The children truly amazed us this week with their Christmas Nativity performance at the church. We were so proud of how beautifully they sang and how well they remembered all of their actions. It has been such a joyful week in the classroom, filled with making Christmas cards and festive crafts. The children have also enjoyed playing games like Christmas Bingo and taking part in "Now Press Play"..
In addition to the festivities, the children have completed all of their wider curriculum assessments using Seesaw. We were delighted to see how much information they have retained over the last half term, they have been working very hard!
What a wonderful half term it has been. We wish you all a well-deserved rest and a fantastic Christmas! Look forward to seeing you in 2026.
Year 2 has had a fantastic end to the term! The children shone brightly in the Christmas performances, sharing their hard work and enthusiasm with proud parents and carers. We were so proud of how confidently they performed to a huge crowd!
The making day activities and class parties were filled with joy, laughter and festive fun. The children created cheeky elves, Christmas trees and gorgeous cards. We would like to thank all parents and carers for their support this year with help on school trips and donating recyclables for our DT projects. We couldn’t do it without your help.
We hope you all have a wonderful holiday making memories with your families and wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Polite reminder...
As you know, we are a healthy school and therefore ask if your child would like to celebrate their birthday, they donate a book to a library instead of bringing treats. This also ensures there are no concerns over allergies.
We will share any photos of children and their birthday books here every week!

Communication
To help us assist you more efficiently when you email the school office, we kindly request that you include your child's class along with their name in your correspondence.
While we know all our students very well, having the class information readily available helps us to quickly identify your child and address your queries without any delay or guesswork.
For example, please consider writing: "Regarding [Child's Full Name], [Class, e.g., Year R - Squirrels]" in the subject line or at the beginning of your email.
Your cooperation in this matter is greatly appreciated and will help us continue to provide the best possible support to you and your children.
Thank you for your understanding.
Moving address
If you have moved address, it is imperative that you inform the school office as soon as you have moved. It is a requirement that the school has up to date details particularly in case of an emergency.
Please email the school office ccioffice@leoacademytrust.co.uk if your details need updating. Alternatively you can update them using the Arbor App.
They are also available to complete on our website using the parent tab.
We do not authorise holidays during term time. If your child is going to be off school due to an exceptional circumstance, then please complete this form:
You can also log same-day absences for your children directly through the Parent Portal or Arbor App. Simply navigate to the Attendance section, click "Log Absence," and fill in the details. You can adjust the start and end times if it is not a full-day absence. Once submitted, school staff will review and either approve or reject the request. You will see approved absences in the Attendance tab.
Please note, this feature is only for same-day absences; for any extended or future absences, please continue to complete and submit the request for exceptional absence. We will also continue to use the same day absence google form. If you need to change an unapproved absence request, you will need to delete it and create a new one, as editing is not possible. Once an absence is approved, it cannot be deleted through the app, so you will need to contact the school for any further modifications

Thank you so much for supporting the second hand uniform sale on Friday. We are delighted that good quality school uniform can be reused and help families.
Going forward, we need to reduce the uniform service that we offer unfortunately. We will no longer be taking uniform email requests for the foreseeable future. The uniform service has expanded immensely with donations and requests over the past year. Whilst it has been absolutely wonderful to offer this service to the school community; sadly, we don't have the volunteers to sustain the huge amount of time this service requires.
However, we are very happy to still offer a termly uniform sale, where we'll have plenty of uniform on offer to stock up for the term ahead.
Please leave donations at either the Infants’ or Junior’s office.
We hope you understand the decision we've had to take, and we thank you, as always, for your continued support.
