As the weather starts to improve, we're turning our attention to the EYFS forest area. We would be very grateful for any donations of unwanted stepping stones, logs or plants that could enhance this space for our children!
If you have any donations, these would be welcomed at the school office or to class teachers.
Click on the links below to read our curriculum newsletters. On these, you can find out the topics that your children will be learning about, as well as information about home learning, PE days and general reminders for their year group.
Please can we remind parents that children should not be bringing their own toys or Pokémon cards into school. These can be a distraction to children and can cause distress if they get lost.
Additionally, we would recommend that children are taken to appointments outside of school hours. When children have lunchtime appointments, it can take some time to find these children, who may have just sat down to eat their lunch.
Friday 7th March
We would like to say a huge thank you to our children and families for their phenomenal outfit efforts during World Book Day. Please see some of our creative children below. What a wonderful way to celebrate reading across the school!
We would also like to say a massive thank you to those children who submitted their entries for our Book in a Jar competition. We have received some amazing, creative ideas and look forward to sharing these entries in Celebration Assembly next Friday.
Friday 21st March
This year Red Nose Day is on Friday 21st March and, as a school, we would like to raise some money for this great cause as well as the children having lots of fun!
This year’s theme is ‘Do Something Funny For Money’, we are asking all children to come to school with ‘Crazy Hair’. We are asking for a donation, with the suggested amount being £1, which will be collected at the gate as the children come into school. Please see below some examples of ‘crazy hair’ ideas…
We hope that the children enjoy the day and hopefully, we as a school, can raise some money for Comic Relief. As always, thank you for your continued support. We look forward to seeing your crazy hairstyles!

Eat Them to Defeat Them
This campaign to encourage children to eat more vegetables is coming into its seventh year. Involvement in this campaign has been proved to lead to increased vegetable consumption over the long term and with 29% of children eating less that one portion of vegetables a day it is important that we make every attempt to improve our children's diets. Look out for the daily vegetable that we will be encouraging your children to eat. Starting with carrots our catering team are adding a tasty and healthy carrot cake to the menu so your children can receive their 'eat them to defeat them sticker.'
Nursery have been reading Goldilocks and the 3 Bears. They created pictures of the characters and setting in the story. They also read the story of Cinderella during their NELI sessions and created invitations, which was their special word in NELI.
Reception have been reading Somebody Swallowed Stanley. We learnt about how rubbish affects animals, in particular sea creatures. We learnt about recycling and how we need to safely dispose of, recycle and reduce our rubbish.
We started off the week with an amazing experience, Tom’s Talking reptiles. The children were all incredibly brave as they touched or held a cockroach, gecko, tortoise and snake. It was wonderful to see so many children overcome their fears and learn all about the reptiles. In science this week the children learnt about another animal group birds, they wrote characteristics of a bird. The children completed all their assessments this week, maths, reading and writing and we are very pleased with the progress they are making. What a lovely way to end the week with World Book Day, the children loved dressing up and all looked fabulous. Thank you!
This week our young artists have been exploring the fascinating world of primary and secondary colours, and experimenting with mark-making using a variety of unconventional tools. From the textured imprints of cotton reels and LEGO bricks to the bold strokes of forks and even tyres, the children were thrilled to see the colourful and unique results of their creative exploration. The classroom was a burst of colour and a testament to their imaginative spirit!
In writing, we delved deeper into the captivating story of "Ossiri and the Bala Mengro." To enhance their descriptive writing, the children have been mastering the art of similes and expanded noun phrases. They've been working hard to create vivid character and setting descriptions. Next week, they'll put these skills to the test as they retell the story from the Ogre's perspective, promising some exciting and imaginative narratives!
Our budding mathematicians have been busy learning to count and combine different coins to make specific amounts. Through hands-on activities, they've gained practical experience in understanding the value of money and developing their problem-solving skills.
The children thoroughly enjoyed their Real dance classes, where they collaborated with partners to create dynamic standing shapes and explored movement transitions between these static poses. It was wonderful to see them working together, expressing themselves through movement, and developing their physical coordination.
What a busy week we have had!
Polite reminder...
As you know, we are a healthy school and therefore ask if your child would like to celebrate their birthday, they donate a book to a library instead of bringing treats. This also ensures there are no concerns over allergies.
Happy birthday! Thank you for your book donation.
