Monday afternoon brought a buzz of excitement to the school as children from Reception to Year 2 enjoyed a transition session with their new teachers in their new classrooms. Following this, teachers met to exchange information, ensuring a smooth transition for all students into their next classes.
On Tuesday, Year 1 visited Nonsuch Park as part of their studies on Henry VIII's impact on the local area. They explored the park's historical appearance and usage, comparing it to its present day purpose. A lovely time was had by all but they seem to return to school quite tired!
Our Reception "stay and plays" on Tuesday and Wednesday after school were well-attended, and it was a joy to welcome both new, existing and returning families to CCI. Thursday morning saw the hall packed as our budding rock stars performed their final concert of the academic year for their parents. We hope their musical talents continue to flourish next year.
Years 1 and 2 have been diligently rehearsing for their celebration assemblies next week. They also enjoyed a sneak preview of the Year 6 performance of "Grease" during their dress rehearsal this afternoon. They can't wait to perform on the same stage as the "big Year 6 children do."
Your child’s report has been emailed to you today. These reports outline the attainment and progress of your children as well as their behaviour and attitude to learning.
For your guidance your child’s attainment will be one of the following
PKS = Working at Pre Key Stage standards
WTS = Working Towards the Expected Standard for their year group (unless otherwise stated)
EXS = Working at the Expected Standard for their year group
GDS = Working at Greater Depth within the Expected Standard for their year group
We ask the teachers to mark the children’s effort towards their work on a 1-4 scale with 1 being the greatest.
Your child’s attendance will also have been commented on - please note that you can check their attendance on arbor. The teachers have a live feed for attendance and when commenting on attendance they would always check on that day. The percentage may differ on your child’s report compared to today if the box was ticked last week. For further information about our attendance policy please click on the link here. If you would like to discuss your child's report please do not hesitate to contact your child's teacher.
Thank you to everyone who brought in donations for the Summer Fair today in return for the children wearing their own clothes (mufti) the Friends have been preparing for the fair this evening and will be making an early start tomorrow. It's going to be a hot one tomorrow and I am looking forward to seeing many of you there!

Need More Tokens?
You’ll be able to purchase additional tokens inside the fair at the Bar, Cake Stall, and Treat Stall.
Edurio Survey 2025
"Could you share more detailed about what children are learning and share educational resources. We would like to know more about the curriculum and how to better support our children."
We will be holding a range of workshops over the coming months and the next academic year and comments within the survey have given us a range of subject focuses for these. We will be starting with 'Transition' workshops this term. These will be held in the school hall.
Wednesday 25th June 5.30 pm Welcome to Reception Parents' Evening (for Sept 2025 intake)
Thursday 26th June 5.30 pm Welcome to Nursery Parents' Evening (for Sept 2025 intake)
Thursday 3rd July 9.45-10.30 am Welcome to Year Two (for parents of our current Year One children) (amended time)
Friday 4th July 9-9.45 am Welcome to Year One (for parents of our current Reception children) (amended day and time)
These workshops are designed to provide information and practical suggestions on how to support our children to make a smooth transition into their new year group in September.
We are pleased to announce the arrival of the new Cheam Common half-zip black PE top at the uniform shop.
These stylish tops provide a comfortable and smart alternative to sweatshirts and cardigans on PE days, mirroring the popular junior design.
Infants in Reception to Year 2 can now purchase tops with a standard Cheam Common logo. Older children's tops with the CCJ logo will remain available until current stock is sold.
This top is optional (not a uniform requirement) but many parents have praised the junior version, so we are pleased to offer this popular choice!
These can be purchased at SchoolWearInc - also on Worcester Park High Street,
Nursery have had so much fun during arts week! They made ice creams using puffy paint (shaving foam, glue and paint) and decorated them with sprinkles. We all thought they looked very tasty! They also made artwork in the style of Matisse and Jackson Pollock, learning how to collage materials and splatter paint!
For arts week Reception have been reading the book Giraffes Can’t Dance! They have created lots of art work this week using different techniques. They have learnt about collaging with materials and created silhouette pictures of African animals, using the colours of a sunrise over the savannah! They also painted giraffes using corks to create round shapes for pattern on a giraffe’s coat.
Year One had a fantastic week, they thoroughly enjoyed going to Nonsuch Park and exploring the grounds looking for ruins. The children loved drawing the Mansion House and some even used flowers to colour it in. They enjoyed watching the bees pollinate on the purple flowers and recalled lots of facts about pollination.
In Maths, we have been so impressed with their learning of tens and ones to 100 and using blockzillar to compare numbers for example 45 is greater than 23. They wrote some lovely sentences evaluating their D.T fruit salads explaining what they enjoys and why they like their favourite fruit. We ended the week on a high watching the incredible Year 6 children perform Grease!
What a vibrant start to Arts Week for Year 2! We plunged into the captivating world of poetry, exploring the playful rhythm of limericks, the structured beauty of acrostic poems, and the satisfying chime of rhyming couplets. To further enhance their linguistic prowess, children enthusiastically matched synonyms and rhyming words. Their passion for creative writing truly ignited as they crafted their very own rhyming couplets, vividly describing the Great Fire of London.
Our mathematical minds were busy too, as we revisited 2D and 3D shapes, refining our ability to describe the properties of even irregular forms. A fun challenge saw them exploring the many variations of a rectangle they could draw.
In History, Year 2 meticulously applied their disciplinary writing skills, creating impressive, beautifully illustrated two-page spreads that showcased their understanding of The Great Fire of London.
A highlight was undoubtedly Wednesday's joint playtime with the juniors, which gave our Year 2s the exciting opportunity to explore the entire playground and play alongside the older children. In the afternoon, their artistic collaboration truly shone, as they created breathtaking Great Fire of London artworks using oil pastels and black paper.
We're all buzzing with excitement for our upcoming Celebration Assembly! Rehearsals are going brilliantly, and the children sound amazing. We can't wait to share some truly special memories from their journey at CCI next week.
Polite reminder...
As you know, we are a healthy school and therefore ask if your child would like to celebrate their birthday, they donate a book to a library instead of bringing treats. This also ensures there are no concerns over allergies.
Happy birthday! Thank you so much for your book donation.

Reporting absences
There is no longer an option to report a child’s absence via telephone. We ask that you use the google forms below to report absence. They are also available to complete on our website using the parent tab.
We do not authorise holidays during term time. If your child is going to be off school due to an exceptional circumstance, then please complete this form:
Request for Exceptional Absence form in advance for future appointments and exception absence.
Cheam Common Infants' Absence Form for sickness and same day medical appointments.
Communication
To help us assist you more efficiently when you email the school office, we kindly request that you include your child's class along with their name in your correspondence.
While we know all our students very well, having the class information readily available helps us to quickly identify your child and address your queries without any delay or guesswork.
For example, please consider writing: "Regarding [Child's Full Name], [Class, e.g., Year 3 Elm]" in the subject line or at the beginning of your email.
Your cooperation in this matter is greatly appreciated and will help us continue to provide the best possible support to you and your children.
Thank you for your understanding.
Moving address
If you have moved address, it is imperative that you inform the school office as soon as you have moved. It is a requirement that the school has up to date details particularly in case of an emergency.
Please email the school office ccioffice@leoacademytrust.co.uk if your details need updating. Alternatively you can update them using the Arbor App.
We are excited to announce that you can now log same-day absences for your children directly through the Parent Portal or Arbor App. Simply navigate to the Attendance section, click "Log Absence," and fill in the details. You can adjust the start and end times if it is not a full-day absence. Once submitted, school staff will review and either approve or reject the request. You will see approved absences in the Attendance tab.
Please note, this feature is only for same-day absences; for any extended or future absences, please continue to complete and submit the request for exceptional absence. We will also continue to use the same day absence google form. If you need to change an unapproved absence request, you will need to delete it and create a new one, as editing is not possible. Once an absence is approved, it cannot be deleted through the app, so you will need to contact the school for any further modifications.
This new reporting method will be used alongside our other established reporting procedures

Partners including CAMHS, Sutton Local Authority, Education and the Voluntary Community Sector are working with parents/carers to design a pilot to provide early support to families that may have concerns that may be related to Autism or ADHD.
The pilot will aim to provide early support to children and young people with or
without a formal diagnosis.
To make sure this pilot service truly meets the needs of families in Sutton, we would be extremely grateful if you could complete the following short survey:
https://forms.office.com/e/swsnFC9jmK
Your feedback will help to:
Identify gaps in support experienced by parent/carers, ensure that the pilot service is informed by parent/carers and that families receive the help that they need, and improve coordination between services.
The survey should take approximately 15-20 mins to complete; it is open until 23rd June 2025.
If you have any questions about this survey, please contact Diana Salgado, Clinial Service Lead for the Leads Based Model team, through the email:
