What is Oracy?
At Brookfield, we are currently working on developing oracy skills of all our pupils. Oracy is a combination of learning to talk and learning through talk.
Why does Oracy matter?
Oracy improves children’s outcomes in all areas of learning. It also fosters well being and confidence
enabling all children to have a voice and to be heard. Oracy equips children with the skills they need in their
lives beyond school and to be active members of the community

How can you help develop your child's oracy skills?
We will be sharing different activities for you to do with your child/children to develop their oracy skills.
e can not wait to see what they produce this term!
Well done to Rebecca in Year 6 for creating this fantastic gas mask which she was able to wear as part of her History home learning task.
Yaami in Onyx, created this super model of the solar system for her home learning task - Great job!
Aranya in Year 5 made this amazing solar system with lights for her science home learning task. She even added a stand so it would stand up independently and thought about how to show the different sizes of the planets. Great problem solving and creativity.
Following learning about the Ancient Greeks, Ellisa in Onyx created this wonderful Greek pot - super work!
Within our reading lessons, the children are sharing the books that they love and they favourite recommendations! Each class also has their own book that they are reading during their Read Aloud sessions, which has been chosen by the children themselves.
Here are some quality recommended books for all ages to enjoy with your loved ones! We'd love to hear about any new recommendations!
