I cannot believe this is the last newsletter of the Autumn Term and of 2025! What a truly remarkable first term it has been! It has been a joy to watch our Early Years children settle so beautifully into their new routines; seeing their growing confidence and happy faces each morning has been a highlight for us all.
This term has been packed with learning and adventure, with every single class across Key Stage 1 and 2 participating in a high-quality enrichment activity. These experiences have added such depth to our curriculum and sparked a wonderful sense of curiosity in our pupils. The term culminated in our magnificent Christmas performances, which brought our community together in the best possible way and provided a perfect finale to a busy and successful few months.
As we head into the holidays, on behalf of everyone at Brookfield, I would like to wish everyone wonderful Christmas break spent with loved ones, filled with plenty of joy and laughter. I encourage you all to take this time to truly relax and unwind after such a productive term.
To those who celebrate, we wish you a wonderful festive period. We look forward to welcoming everyone back to school on Monday, 5th January 2026, refreshed and ready for the new year! Please see below for other dates for the new year.
Play Apparatus After School
I am pleased to inform you that we our new Key Stage 1 play apparatus will be installed during this half term. We cannot wait for our Reception and Year 1 children to enjoy this new apparatus. I am sure it will add endless fun to their break and lunchtimes.
Once it is installed, like the Key Stage 2 apparatus, children are not permitted to play on the climbing frames at the end of the school day. We kindly request your support with this. Thank you.
We Belong
We are currently creating a 'We Belong' display board showing all the different clubs and groups our pupils belong to, in addition to belonging to our Brookfield family. If you would like for your child to be part of this display, please email a photograph of them in their uniform/team kit etc to bfoffice@leoacademytrust.co.uk.
Many thanks for your support.
PE Days
Please click here to see Spring Term PE days. Please ensure your child is in the correct PE uniform on their PE days (see below for details).
Stay and Play on Sunday 11th January for perspective parents of our 3&4 year old Nursery provision and Reception 2026 pupils.
A massive congratulations to Madden, Madison, Jay, Alex, Chloe and Nik who won the Sustainable Design Goals UK Design Challenge 2026. The team had to create a presentation about changes we could make in school to help develop a more sustainable city and community. Following a virtual presentation, we are so proud we were chosen as the winners.
A huge thank you to Mrs Elmellas for all her hard work supporting the group.
As you know, we are an inclusive school. Currently to help us develop our communication skills, we are beginning to learn Makaton. We have already learnt the sign for: We have now learnt the signs for 'to help', and winter/cold. We have learnt 'Good Morning' and 'Good Afternoon' as well as more.
Each week we are learning a different sign.
Please ask your child if they can remember any of them.
We had a fantastic time brainstorming ideas to make a real difference in how we look after our planet, right here at school. Our discussions focused on three key areas:
Litter Patrol: We talked about how to keep our school grounds and the local area tidy. We discussed the importance of using bins correctly and perhaps even organising a special tidy-up lunch time.
Making Our Grounds Eco-Friendly: We explored fun ideas for turning our school grounds into a haven for nature! This includes planting more flowers, setting up bug hotels, and finding ways to compost food waste.
Saving Water: We discussed simple but effective ways to save water around the school, like making sure taps are turned off properly and thinking about how we use water in our forest school.
After lots of brilliant ideas were shared, the eco-council and our sustainability team worked together to create this poster to spread the word about not littering!
ELF Run for The Children's Charity
What a fantastic day we had on Friday 12th December. We all donned our elf hats and completed an 'Elf run' to raise money for The Children's Trust. From our youngest to our oldest, all pupils got involved by running, walking, jogging and even 'congoing' to raise money.
Thank you to everyone who kindly sponsored us. We raised over £700 for The Children's Trust.
Year 3 & 4 and 5 & 6 Christmas Carols
The rafters of Emmanuel Church rang with joy this week as our talented Key Stage 2 children brought the story of the Nativity to life. It was a truly magical occasion that succeeded in transporting us all from the busy rush of December back to the very first Christmas. Their voices filled the beautiful, historic setting of the church, creating a festive atmosphere that left many in the audience reaching for their tissues!
Beyond the tinsel and the catchy songs, the performance served as a poignant reminder of the true message of Christmas. Performing in the peaceful surroundings of Emmanuel Church allowed us all to reflect on the core values of the season: hope, peace, and the gift of love. Seeing the children gather around the manger was a beautiful depiction of the humble beginnings of the Christmas story, reminding us that the greatest gifts aren't found under a tree, but in the kindness we show to one another.
Year 3 Trip to The Natural History Museum
Year 3 Erupts with Excitement at the Natural History Museum! 🌋
On Thursday 4th December, our Year 3 pupils embarked on a truly thrilling adventure to London's Natural History Museum, bringing their current topic on volcanoes to spectacular life! The trip was a huge success, offering the children an engaging and interactive way to deepen their understanding of geology and Earth sciences. A major highlight was the fantastic, hands-on workshop they participated in, where they explored the different types of volcanoes, learned about tectonic plates, and even got to witness an exploding volcano!
The excitement didn't stop there! No visit to the Natural History Museum would be complete without a trip to see the awe-inspiring dinosaurs , and our Year 3s were absolutely captivated by the sheer scale of the exhibits, especially the mighty Tyrannosaurus Rex. The whole day was filled with curiosity, learning, and fun, creating memorable moments for everyone.
We extend a huge thank you to all the parent helpers who joined us; your support was crucial in making the trip run smoothly and safely. We are incredibly proud of the enthusiasm and excellent behaviour displayed by all the Year 3 pupils!
Golden Raffle Tickets Reward Trip
On Wednesday 3rd December, 16 of our pupils went to Sutton's Fun Zone in the St Nicholas Centre. These lucky 16 had all received at least one golden raffle ticket during the Autumn term for display our Golden Behaviour rules and were lucky to have their names pulled out of the selection box.
They had great fun exploring the fun zone which included soft play obstacle courses as well as table tennis. What a great reward for their fantastic behaviour.
Key Stage 1 Nativity
On Monday 15th December our wonderful Year 1 and Year 2 children shared a wonderful performance of the Nativity. The narators clealry spoke their lines, the actors were poised and the dancers and sinders literally shone throughout the whole performance. It was simply brilliant. Thank you for providing costumes and I am sure you will join me in thanking the teachers for all their hard work putting together this fantastic performance.
Reception and Nursery Chritsmas Songs
We were blown away by the fantastic performances of both our Pearl Nursery and Reception classes. They sung beautifully as well as danced their socks off - making us all feel incredibly festive.
Well done all!

DONATIONS
With the colder weather, we would be most grateful if you could supply your child with a box of tissues for their classroom.
We would also be very grateful for any donations of trainers for our Nursery and Reception children please.
Thank you in advance for your support
Most pharmacies in England are now providing the Pharmacy First service.
This free NHS service allows you or your child to get quick access to healthcare advice for the following seven conditions:
Earache (aged 1 to 17 years)
Impetigo (aged 1 year and over)
Infected insect bites (aged 1 year and over)
Shingles (aged 18 years and over)
Sinusitis (aged 12 years and over)
Sore throats (aged 5 years and over)
Urinary tract infections (UTIs) in women (aged 16 to 64 years)
If you or your child has symptoms that suggest you may have one of these conditions, you can walk into a pharmacy and be offered a consultation with a pharmacist in a private consultation room. Some pharmacies also offer the service remotely as a video consultation.
Your GP surgery may also electronically refer you or your child to a pharmacy of your choice for the service.
The pharmacist will provide advice and, if clinically necessary, a prescription medicine to treat the condition (the normal NHS prescription charge rules apply to people aged 16 and over).
An electronic message will be sent to the GP surgery so they can update their records.
If the pharmacist can’t treat you or your child, they will direct you to your GP surgery or another health professional.
If you or your child have symptoms that suggest you have one of the above conditions, why not give the Pharmacy First service a try?
Find out more by watching the Pharmacy First animation or visiting nhs.uk/thinkpharmacyfirst

We are passionate about keeping our pupils safe. We regularly remind children to speak out if they feel unsafe.
While we do watch the PANTS video with the children to remind them how to keep safe, we would recommend you too take time to watch it with your child.
While we encourage as many pupils as possible to ride and scoot to school, can we please ask that children only WALK their scooters and bikes when on the school premises. This means they need to dismount BEFORE entering either the front or back gate. We have almost had several accidents this week and want to ensure everyone is safe.
Thank you for your cooperation.
Ensuring the safety of our pupils is our top priority. This includes maintaining a smooth and safe environment for pick-up and drop-off times.
The school has never, and will never, advise parking in a way that obstructs residents' driveways on Ridge Road, or anywhere else in the neighborhood. We understand the convenience of pulling right up, but it's crucial to park legally and considerately.
We kindly ask all parents and guardians to be mindful of the following during pick-up and drop-off:
Park safely and with due care.
Respect our neighbours and local residents. This includes not parking across driveways at any time.
If parking is limited, consider carpooling or using alternative transportation options when possible.
To further ensure safety and a smooth flow of traffic, we've requested additional police patrols during pick-up and drop-off times.
We appreciate your cooperation in keeping our school community safe and considerate of our neighbours.
The school uniform policy contributes to a positive and inclusive learning environment. We rely on parents' and guardians' support in ensuring their children wear the correct uniform.

We thank you in advance, for your support in paying for any trips, after school sessions or clubs on Arbor promptly. Please let the office know if you require help to access the payment pages.
On School Grounds:
To ensure a focused learning environment, students are not permitted to use their personal mobile phones on school grounds or during lessons at LEO Academy Trust schools. This policy has a single exception for documented medical needs.
Storage and Use
For students who travel alone and carry a phone (at their parents' discretion), devices must be turned off upon entering school grounds and remain off until they exit the school gates. All such phones will be securely stored by the school upon arrival and returned at the end of the school day.
Parental Considerations
We advise parents and guardians to consider providing their children with less expensive devices for safety reasons. While these devices still allow for calls and texts, they can mitigate some of the wider risks associated with more costly phones. We recognise that the ultimate decision regarding device choice rests with the parents.
Online Safety Education
LEO Academy Trust prioritises online safety. Our curriculum, parent workshops, and communications consistently highlight the dangers of unsupervised online access, particularly concerning social media. We also offer regular training and support for parents on online safety practices and managing parental controls on a variety of devices.
We are extremely excited to announce that our new Behaviour reward activity each term will be at Family Fun Zone at St Nicholas Shopping Centre in Sutton. Family Fun Zone are allowing us to visit them for FREE!

The school office staff will administer the medication at the times stated on the form by the parent/carer. You can collect the medication at the end of the school day, or at the end of the illness.
